Good morning the weather is due to hit -5, -6 over the next 24 hours.

For those of you that use my service you are aware that I am insured through pet plan services, they have issued all services with information regarding hot and cold weather risks.

Extreme temperatures pose a huge risk for dogs outside for prolonged periods of time and our policy does have an extreme weather clause.

Currently -4, so Walks today will be significantly shorter than usual to ensure a high standard of care and welfare is maintained, if you would prefer a pop in only, then I’m happy to swap you over, if you would rather cancel, that’s fine too I would be happy to arrange credit/refund in your account.

Wishing you all a Happy Halloween!! I have been a little quite on the front with lots of 1-1 behaviour cases keeping me extra busy 🥵

Just remember Halloween isn’t fun for everyone!

Fancy dress costumes can be quite frighting for our canine companions and can induce a fearful and anxious response so here our a couple of tips for this evening!

Avoid going for a walk peek trick and treating time 6-8.30pm

If your welcoming trick or treaters to your dog, make sure your canine friend is safely away from the commotion, quite room or crate with some extra special long lasting treats like a kong and some background music.

If you have a ring door bell turn down the volume notification.

Keep the trick and treat bowl well out of reach! - chocolate, jellies and xylitol (a sweetener used in many sweet treats) are hazardous to pets.

Be cautious with pet Halloween costumes, they can cause anxiety and restrict movement - Signs of discomfort include; folded down ears, eyes rolling back or looking sideways, a tucked tail or hunching over.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all my regular clients today, my little boy was really struggling post dental surgery, so I was only able to offer pop in visits 😞

I’m pleased to say his feeling a little better and i hope to return to normal tomorrow.

Being a business owner and a mum takes it toll some days and having understanding clients makes the world of difference! Thank you 😊

Following a 30 minute telephone consult a bespoke training plan is created to support you and your canine companion on your training journey. 1-1 practical training sessions can be in the comfort of your own home or out and about depending on your training needs

☀️ Warm weather frequently asked questions☀️

Q: When is the best time to walk my dog when it is warm?
A: Early mornings or evenings, midday walks should definitely be avoided!

Q: What if I have a scheduled walk booked in with Trays Tails Unleashed at lunchtime and the weather is too warm?
A: You will be offered a 30 minute pop in and water play session at a reduced rate in the comfort of your own home/garden.

(If your normally home during the booked walking session and therefore a pop in not needed, then an option to cancel and refund will be offered)

Q: How hot is to hot to walk my dog?
A: It is generally safe to walk a dog in temperatures of up to 19°C anything over 20°C the risk of heat stroke rises, and dogs should be carefully monitored. It is important to take into consideration your dogs age, fitness level, weight and breed.

We have a policy in place outlining extreme weather conditions and to ensure high standards of care and welfare is maintained, we will not walk any dog if the temperature is deemed to warm for your dog.

Q: What do you define as to warm?
A: We have a no walk policy for any temperature over 24 °C for all dogs, but remember, Puppies and older dogs feel the heat more, double coated breeds will struggle in the heat and brachycephalic type breeds such as bulldogs and pugs will find even a slight rise in temperatures a real struggle when walking! So all dog walks will be on a dog by dog bases.

Your dogs welfare is my highest priority, when they are in our care, they are treated as our own.

We have great fun on garden play session! we do basic obedience training, games, water play and an opportunity to have some 1-1 attention. ☀️ check out this little fella enjoying some splash play!

Having taught in an local agriculture college for over 10 years, I had the pleasure of not only teaching Canine Behaviour and Training but I also taught Practical Animal Husbandry and Health modules for a range of Exotic and Farm animal species.

It’s been an emotional one this week 🖤 I have had the pleasure of working with this handsome fella for the last year and we had our last walk together Friday, moving up north with his family, I’m really gonna miss this guy, a complete fruit cake at times but so loyal and one of my best doggy friends!
