Part Time Groom Job Vacancy

Due to business expansion, we are now looking for a reliable person to help look after a variety of horses, from hunters to happy hackers and carry out all the general yard duties at our picturesque yard in Northamptonshire.

Experience:
• Must be confident handling a variety of horses, including big horses & challenging horses
• Experience with farm equipment would be preferable but not essential
• Clipping, mane pulling to a high standard (please provide photos of your work)

Skillset:
The successful candidate will be;
• Calm, warm character
• Able to deal with challenging horses/behavioural issues kindly but efficiently
• Comfortable being in with small herds of horses
• Have a proactive attitude
• Have a “horse first” approach with natural ethics
• Hard working
• Efficient with the ability to identify efficiency improvements
• Able to follow instructions
• Able to use their own initiative when required
• Have full UK driving license and own vehicle
• Not stood on their phone all day
• Basic wound management – essential

Duties would include:
• Day to day care such as bringing in/mucking out/ turning out / changing rugs/ poo picking/haynets
• A quad with trailer and tractor are available to use with experience and training.
• Assist with preparing the horses on hunting mornings
• Riding possible but not essential.
• Responsibility for daily health checks
• Sole management of yard required at times

We will have one space for livery for a pony mare or gelding.

Must be barefoot (we are able to help with transitioning from shod if required)
