As much as love the heat, our furry animals may suffer from heat stroke. Please be aware of the signs of heat stroke. If you believe your pet has got heat stroke, call your vet as soon as possible and use cold water to cool the animal down.
Make sure fresh cool water is always available. Be careful walking your dog in this heat, go either earlier in the morning or later at night.

Following the fire on Tuesday, we are currently experiencing a lot of technical issues. We are experiencing issues with our phone lines and computer systems, therefore it may be difficult to get a hold of us at times. Please order essential medications only for now. If in case of an emergency, if you are unable to get through to us please head straight down.

We are waiting on engineers to fix the issues we're experiencing, hopefully this will be resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, we truly apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we are thankful for your patience.

The White Cross Team

VETERINARY NURSE AWARENESS MONTH 🐶🐱🐹🐰
Today, we have Leah telling us about how she loves animal care and inpatient care. Our nurses are in charge of caring for the patients after their surgery. It can be scary or worrying for pets to come round from anaesthetic on their own, so our nurses will sit with them and give them fuss as they come round. During the recovery, the nurses will keep an eye on their breathing and heart rate, hydration, take them out to the toilet, monitor their wound, give pain relief as needed, pain score the animals and encourage them to eat 🧑‍⚕️

VETERINARY NURSE AWARENESS MONTH 🐶🐱🐹🐰
Today we have Georgia telling us her favourite part of nursing 👩‍⚕️
Georgia loves doing dental scales and polishing! This is where debris and tartar is removed from the teeth whilst the pet is under general anaesthetic. It allows for other dental issues to be uncovered and a chart of dental health to be performed. The polishing allows for the teeth to have a reduction in staining and to look shiny clean!😁✨

09/05/2024

We have had a female black and white cat brought in, with distinctive markings on her face. She is microchipped but it is not registered and she was found near Arbour Court.

Unfortunately, she had passed away before she got to us 🌈

If you recognise this description, please call us on 01604 400130

VETERINARY NURSE AWARENESS MONTH 🐶🐱🐹🐰
Today we have Katie who's favourite thing about nursing is the consults. 🐶🐱🐾👩‍⚕️
There are many things nurses can do in a consult that people may not realise. These include post op checks, nail clips, dental checks, lifestyle clinics, cytopoint/librela/solensia/immunotherapy injections, 2nd vaccines, admits & discharges, weight clinics, a**l gland expressions, bandage changes, and stitch removals. Nurses can also do emergency triages and emergency first aid

04/05/2024

VETERINARY NURSE AWARENESS
Over the month we will tell you about each of our nurses favourite part of the job and go into detail about what nurses can do.
First up is Laura 👩‍⚕️🩺
Laura loves monitoring general anaesthetics and inpatient recovery. Throughout the surgeries, nurses like Laura will ensure the animals heart rate is stable, blood pressure is correct and that they can feel no pain throughout, assessing the need for additional pain relief and IV fluids to keep the patient comfortable. This is crucial for the vet, so they can carry on peacefully with procedure and ensure the best care is given to the patient.
