RABBITS!! Today I had 3 in from the local rescue that needed some TLC. These are all looking for new homes but are not for the inexperienced or uncommitted as you can see by the photos.

They are possibly angoras or double mane Lion Heads. They require handstripping/plucking to remove the longer hair, however unlike the nasty angora trade they are not plucked bald as pets.
The require regular combing to remove the dead coat and then plucking when there is loose wool. Some times they are kept clipped as its easier for some to manage.

One of the three had to be clipped due to severe matting, and all of them were so well behaved, two even seemed to relax during it so i think it was a relief to get rid of all the old coat.

We had a similar rabbit called Herb who passed away a while ago and I used to get a table of fur out of him in his weekly grooming sessions! Grooming them can be relaxing for both the human and rabbit once a routine is in place.
If anyone is serious about adopting and is prepared to put the work in give me a shout! I will continue to groom them whilst they are in rescue and can give grooming advice on these breeds.

WARNING RANT incoming! This is a rarity for me but it needs to be said!

If you can’t catch your cat to bring them to there slot you will have to pay for the appointment. I can’t get anyone else in at that short notice and that’s my wages at the end of the day. You know when your appointment is so keep them in a secure area where you can catch them.

If I repeatedly say you need to do something training with your fur baby in certain areas to help with the grooming process and enable me to groom your pet and you fail do do so then I will not book you back in. This is for the welfare and happiness of the animal, I will NOT force any animal to have something done they clearly hate or are fighting against me to get an area done.

I can not wave a majic wand and get your animal groomed when I only see them say every 8 weeks and inbetween you are doing no training/desensitisation or brushing with them to help with areas they aren’t happy with being handled/clipped etc.

I work around issues I see and groom them as best I can without causing stress, it may not be 100% perfect but it’s what they can cope with.

I don’t want them to be stressed and unhappy having a groom. I do my best for your furbabies because I care (maybe to much sometimes) and seeing them stressed and upset effects me emotionally and can be very draining. I do this job because I love all animals and want the best for them.

Oh and no I don’t do flea baths for flea infested cats!

How’s the marathon training going, last night did my first ever 10k with Nathan Watson Dog Behaviour russwatson02 and swcoaching. Cattle creepy 10k, great run, well organised, even get your name shouted out across the line!

Only lost some of my face during he 10k, although a bush also took my headdress of to which I had to go back for 😂. swcoaching has been my running buddy, strength and conditioning trainer, coach, motivator and cheer squad so huge thanks. Only another 32.195km to go to the marathon distance 😂. Not gonna lie the arthritic feet are a tad painful this morning but that’s what it’s all about conquering what the body (and mind) can take. Nathan Watson Dog Behaviour is always there to cheer me on and quash my million doubts I have every day and puts up with me when I’m having bad pain days.
Lots of food to be consumed today!
