Introducing Stitch! Once again a devastated owner has had to make the difficult decision, to surrender their guinea pig to us, to enable him to get the treatment he needs. His previous caregiver tried desperately, but despite getting him treatment from other vets, the dentals he received made no difference and he could still not eat and was getting worse!
When Simon saw him last Wednesday his mouth was very ulcerated with teeth growing into the soft tissue! After a GA dental he felt better but his mouth needed to heal. At last he’s able to drink from the water bottle (something he hasn’t been able to do for a long time) and is able to eat softened nuggets from a bowl. He’s even trying to eat veggies! Simon will see him tomorrow, for a recheck!
When I set up TEAS in 2011, someone asked me where I saw TEAS in 5 years! My reply was ‘hopefully not needed’. I really thought that many more vets would become interested and perfect the treatment of guinea pig dental disease, but 13 years later, we are needed more than ever! 😢
Seeing Stitch drinking from the water bottle, when I got up this morning, brought tears to my eyes. Such a basic thing, but a massive leap forward, towards Stitch’s recovery!
Flora (piggy in tunnel) came to TEAS after losing a lot of weight. Despite being checked thoroughly by her vet, the weight loss had remained unexplained. We quickly got her seen by our vet, Simon, who checked her teeth and found them to be perfect, but he did notice her kidneys felt rather small and firm and he couldn’t feel any ovaries! Flora clearly has some hiding away, as she has previously had a pregnancy, that had ended in miscarriage! It was around this time that the weight loss started!
After settling in, I attempted to bond Flora with another sow! However, Flora appeared to be scared of her, despite the other girl wanting to be her friend!
Around this time lethal white boy, Rudy, fell out with his cagemate, Wee Bear! So, Rudy was booked in for neutering and I decided to try a bond with Flora and Wee Bear (who was already neutered).
It was love at first sight! Married life clearly suits Flora, who is now steadily gaining weight!
It also won’t be too long now before Rudy can have a lady friend too!
❤️ Flora ❤️ and 💙 Wee Bear 💙
Monkey and Leander are such lovely boys! Leander is a daredevil, who has no fear whatsoever and Monkey is the calming influence. Occasionally they’ll clash and Leander tries to challenge Monkey for top spot, but it never escalates and within minutes they’re cuddled up together! 💙💙
Important questions!
Where are my girlfriends? It’s been a very long time since I went for the sleepover with the very nice people! Also, do you have to share food with girlfriends or do you get extra?
As you can see I’m feeling fine and ready for girlfriends! 😍
Yesterday I went to a very nice place, with lots of lovely people. I had a sleep and some food, so that was all good! I couldn’t see or hear the lovely people but I knew they were very kind!
I’m home again and I think this means I can soon have lots of girlfriends!
Love Rudy

Clover has visitors!
Clover and Buster are still in my kitchen, in the hospital cage! They’ll go back out to the piggy log cabin tomorrow.
However, Shelly and Clemmie have popped in to visit and to share dinner with them!
❤️💙❤️❤️
A cheeky snack while Buster is sleeping! Shh don’t tell him! 🤣
Clover has only been home 5 mins and is already tucking in to some grass! I love how Buster lets her eat first! Such a gentleman! ❤️💙
