Nice day of steadiness on the peg for the girls today 🥰🐶
Very pleased with young Goose today, nice little memory for him down the hill and over the stream for a partridge 🥰🐶🪿🪶
Nice memory past Wren for little Goose. First time running past another dog and first memory that he couldn’t see. Super impressed with this little guy, for a bouncy blonde he is so focused when he needs to be 🥰🐶🪿
Back to the training for Wren now. Dropped a blind for her on my way round in the gator- through the OSR, over the ditch and out into the next OSR field 🥰🐶
Teddy retrieving his Dads bird at the end of the drive 🥰🐶
Lovely day on the peg for these 2 today 🥰🐶
Why steadiness is important. Both dogs had been sent for a number of runners throughout the day prior to this drive. This bird had not been hit, he had simply landed in front of us and wandered down to the wood.
(Yes Ted is antisocial and likes to sit away from everyone else, he’s just a grumpy spaniel so we leave him to it)
Apologies for Ellie’s commentary 🤣🙈
Oh how I’ve missed that sight 😍 Wren coming back having cleanly retrieved a wounded bird mid drive, like putting on your favourite slippers again! 🥰🐶
While I’ve been out for 7 weeks now Tom has been busy with work but has had his first day back out with the dogs today. Love being sent pictures and videos of them having a great time
*yes I know Holly makes a noise, it’s one of her many annoying qualities that we put up with because she’s good at her job and I’d be lost without her*
Gorgeous little Goose working on his stop whistle- so pleased with this little pup, huge huge thank you to Swift Dog Training for pointing me in his direction a few months ago 🥰🐶🪿
Lovely first day of the season for young Lark. Nice and steady, very chilled and a pleasure to have out
I think it’s safe to say- today was a tad wet!!
Goose working out place boards
Goose had his first session with a place board today. I absolutely love a mix of free shaping and luring for this. So I start with luring him into the right position to show him how to get the reward(first video) then (next video) when he knows how to get the reward I let him work it out for himself. (Apologies for Ellie’s commentary! 🙈)
Also I’ve just realised how big he is already! 💖🐶🪿
Finally a little bit of starting a stop whistle and then some fun retrieves with his favourite rabbit ball from Gamekeepers Goods 💖🐶🪿
Starting to delay the reward to build onto basic stays (whilst also training my brain to use ‘yes’ instead of good for him as it’s too close to Goose!) 💖🐶🪿
Some heel work and turning practice for little Goose. He hit a bit of a mental block with the turns but they are something new and he was trying to work out what I wanted as most of his ‘sit’s have been in front of me until now. 💖🐶🪿
Proofing behaviours and being consistent means that whatever the environment is the rules never change, even when it’s just little bits like starting to introduce a little bit of patience for Goose 💖🐶🪿
Goose starting to learn some self control and steadiness. Absolutely no pressure, just learning not to do anything until he’s told 💖🐶🪿
Spaniel kind of morning this morning 😍
Fantastic confident memory retrieve to finish off the day from a promising young dog yesterday.
A number of people have asked about teaching the stop whistle so I thought I would do a series of videos showing how I start right from the beginning with Lark. This is the first time she has had a play around with a stop whistle, its kept nice and fun with a handful of her dinner and as you can see she is enjoying herself! She is now 17 weeks old. I'll put up videos as we go along with how her stop progresses 😊 any questions feel free to shout!
Blazebeck Gundogs the work has begun!
