🐾 The Duston German Shepherd Dog Training Club (DGSDTC) was formed in 1984. dogs that have been re-homed, rescued etc.

The Club is open to all owners of pedigree German Shepherd Dogs, although we do accept GSDs without pedigree papers e.g. We have qualified and experienced instructors who will do their best to help you and your dog. Our aim is to train you to train your dog to be obedient; the level of obedience is entirely up to you. Many of our members come along initially with their dog wanting no more than a d

og who will walk alongside them when out, without pulling and always tugging at the lead, and to return when called. We have all admired the well-behaved dog in the street, walking nicely by the handler's side. This does take a lot of hard work and patience, however with good guidence and positive reinforcement training this can be achieved! Members who accomplish an advanced standard of training with their dogs, have the opportunity to join the Pacesetters Dog Display Team

Training Your German Shepherd Dog

We hold an 8-week introductory class, handlers have to complete the course to become Club members and to be accepted into a higher class. During this 8 weeks it helps us to get to know you and you us. Everyone is nervous and probably feels embarrassed the first time we take our dogs onto the floor, but by the end of the 8 weeks you will be able to handle your dog with confidence and be able to move into the next class. At the end of your 8 weeks, your puppy or dog will be: sitting, loose lead walking, start of sit stays, down stays, basic retrieve and a recall (we hope), but remember - every dog is an individual and over the weeks you will learn a lot about your dog's ability to learn.

With all this wet weather a few clients have mentioned about long claws, this is due to the ground being softer and causing less wear.

Can you help us? We’re looking for the perfect home for one of our special dogs – German shepherd, Lauryn.

🐶 Lauryn is almost two years old with a loving personality.
🐶 After being assessed for becoming a guide dog it was decided that due to her big personality, she wasn't suitable for the guiding role.
🐶 A big, excitable dog and can be vocal in exciting situations; she can be strong on the lead and have an aversion to other dogs.
🐶 Lauryn has very good house manners and is very loving in the home.
🐶 She is unable to be with young children (primary age) and other dogs due to needing some more training.
🐶 Not suited to living with other pets but will be a lovely pet for people that are used to big dogs.

To rehome on a permanent basis, we would require you to meet her at least once before any rehoming can take place. If you’re interested, please email [email protected] with a brief summary of your family life, home, and routine.

Last night Bella attended reports of a large group of youths fighting with weapons, including machetes.

On arrival the group starburst, however not before Bella and her handler managed to detain 9 males.

Bella has then been tasked to conduct a property search and has located a further suspect who was trying hide 🙄🤦‍♀️

She has then found a zombie knife and a knuckle duster which had been discarded.

Enquiries resulted in 4 of these males being arrested for possession of offensive weapon 😊

Sad day

It’s with pain and sadness that I am writing this post on behalf of Dave.

Our beautiful, brave, Hero Finn passed away peacefully in his sleep last night.

He was so loved by everyone and will be missed incredibly.

Dave will in time be back on social media but we hope that you can all respect our privacy over the next few days while we grieve.

Thank you for your service Finn, now go and Rest in peace our sweet boy, until we meet again 🐾
