Hope everyone is well 😊

The weather for Monday is looking hot at 29c 🥵 this may mean some appointments will need to be rescheduled I'll be in contact with everyone this effects over the next couple of days

30/07/2024

Thankyou to everyone that I've had to reschedule due to the heat over the last couple of days, The van was hitting 32c yesterday and 34.5c in the back today which is far too hot for myself and most importantly the dogs 🥵

I will not put any dog in the van in these temperatures especially if the dog is kept longer and requires 30-40 minutes of drying time. This is not fair or safe for the dog most importantly!
I have adjusted grooms and left some dogs damp so they don't overheat.

Sending me a snotty message regarding me cancelling for your dogs welfare won't get the dog groomed either! My main priority will always be the dogs as it should be yours as the owner! If this isn't the case then unfortunately you are not the customer for me and I will happily remove you from my books!

Rant over. 🙈

Summer has finally arrived it seems 🌞🙌

As it is now warming up this may effect appointments this week due to the temperature in the van.
Please DO NOT walk your dogs before their grooms, if they are already hot I will refuse to groom them resulting in a missed appointment charge, this may sound harsh but this is for the welfare of your dogs.

If I need to reschedule your appointment I will be in contact ASAP.

Popped a towel down for him to lay on and he spent most of his time like this.
Lovely to see the dogs so relaxed in the van I've been grooming these 2 for a while the other picture is mid groom, as always I forgot an after picture 🤦‍♀️

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine 🌞

Due to the heat forecast for tomorrow I will be rescheduling anyone booked in as the van will be way too hot for the dogs.
I will be in contact with those affected asap.

As always I know this can be frustrating however the welfare of the dogs must and will always come first.

Hope everyone is well 😊

Just wanted to put a post out there about appointments and my working hours.

I am unable to hold appointments while I wait for people to get back to me especially when at times I can be left waiting days for a reply or not at all🤦‍♀️ I know life gets busy sometimes but for an appointment based service organisation is paramount for me.
I generally advise that you book your next appointment before I leave you on the previous appointment this ensures you get a date and time that suits you.

My working/grooming hours are 9am-5pm mon-thurs. I will generally answer messages once I'm home each day, however I have now implemented a cut off time of 7pm in the evening after this messages will be dealt with the next day.
As much as I love your dogs and seeing you all I do need to have a break from work in the evenings and I could easily spend all evening messaging people about work.

Rant over 🙈

Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine so far this week 🙂
It's been incredibly warm in the back of the van 🙈 33c in there yesterday so once again I had to cancel the afternoons grooms for the welfare of the dogs

Hopefully we are near the end of this heatwave for now and normal service can resume soon. 🙂

The sun has finally made an appearance 🙌 however this may mean that I need to reschedule some appointments due to the heat in the back of the van. I know this can be frustrating but the welfare of the dogs will always come first. If I need to move your appointment I will be in touch.

Another note please don't walk your dogs just before their grooms in this heat or in the mid day heat as the tarmac can and will burn their feet 🙈

Apologies to those with appointments today, I am unwell with what feels like covid, I have tested negative but I'll be staying at home today.
I'll be in contact with those affected asap.

This is so true, we really do develop a bond with your dogs and they get to know and trust us over time.
Most of the dogs I groom and have groomed for a while now know my grooming routine well and the phrases that I use such as "move your bum" most dogs will turn round for me on the table and "you'll do" at this point tails wag and the dogs know they are done. A spray of cologne for some signals the end of the groom.
They take in so much more than we realise. The bond and trust built over time is so important between a groomer and your dog and I really do love my job ❤️

Finding a groomer you and your dog love & trust & sticking with them is not just convenient, but can be crucial. Here's why:

This is Bert the Scottie. He was diagnosed with diabetes about 5 months ago, and in a matter of about 6 weeks has gone almost completely blind as a result of the diabetes. 💔

Bert has been a Canine Cosmuttology client for almost 4 years now so he knows his groomers voice and routine very well by now. He knows the smells of our products as we do not change them. He knows the sounds of our tools and how they feel. And he knows the common cue words his groomer uses to prepare him for procedures such as asking him "are you ready?" to let him know we're about to proceed with something.

"The Name Game" is a common technique used by fear free and behavior specialist groomers alike to put a name or "cue" to a tool or procedure that the dog is able to understand and predict what is about to happen to them during the grooming process. For example, the groomer will name a slicker brush for the dog and may say "are you ready? We're going to brush" and the dog within a few grooming appointments learns what the "brush" is and what to expect.

This becomes crucial in cases like blindness. Bert won't have to be afraid and worry about what we're going to be doing now that he suddenly can't see during the grooming process because he knows many of the tools and procedures by name now and knows the order in which they are done for his individual comfort level. Beyond that, he knows his groomer loves him deeply, that he can trust her, and that she will respect and pay attention to his subtle body language cues of discomfort or fear.

When you find a groomer you and your dog love and trust, rebook and stay with them for your dogs sake. It means more to your dog than you know. 💚🩶🖤

⚠️FLEAS⚠️

PLEASE if possible check your dog for fleas before their grooming appointment!
If you can see any live fleas or little specs of what looks like black dirt please let me know ASAP, this enables me to reschedule just your appointment to the end of another day rather than potentially having to move 3 or more other dogs to stop the risk of spreading fleas to them.

An easy way to check for fleas other than seeing them live on your dog is if you can see what looks like black dirt on your dog then wet a piece of toilet paper and rub that on there, if this turns red it is flea dirt and your dog and home will need treating.

If I do find fleas on your dog during their groom then there will be a £20 flea charge added onto the groom cost. This covers the cost of me deep cleaning and flea bombing the van aswell as my time spent rearranging appointments. As a small business I have to implement this unfortunately.

If you need any advice feel free to message me 🙂

Pepper was more interested in what was going on outside the van rather than looking at me for a picture 🤣 biscuit was more than happy to pose for me 🙂
