Bridge Veterinary Practice Ltd

Bridge Veterinary Practice Ltd Bridge Veterinary Practice Ltd Bridge Veterinary Practice opened in October 1986 by Annie & Brian Thompson.
(138)

Back then Brian was a small animal and equine vet covering Wroxham and the surrounding areas. Annie was the receptionist and nurse and from there the practice has grown. Changes and shifts within the veterinary profession saw vets diversify in large animal, equine and small animal practice; thus the practice became the small animal practice it is today. Lots of the staff have been with Bridge for

over twelve years. David Martin joined the practice back in November 2004 as a small animal vet, his role changed over the years to lead vet and then in November 2015 when Brian and Annie retired, David purchased the practice to become lead vet and director, along with his wife, friends and colleagues Roger Bannock and Tom Robertson. David and Marie Martin, with the help and support of their colleagues have ensured Bridge continues as a friendly family run, independent practice offering a full range of first opinion veterinary care for dogs, cats, rabbits and family pets, along with providing a personal, caring environment for the treatment and well being of all your pets.

⚠️ Microchipping scam ⚠️

If you receive an email from Petchip.network advising that your pet’s microchip registration has expired and you need to pay for it to be updated PLEASE IGNORE - THIS IS A SCAM. The email comes with a link taking you to a page showing your pet’s name, microchip number, your contact number and looks very convincing.

There is a list of approved databases on gov.uk

Typically you would only pay a fee on first registering your pet or if you contacted the company to update your details.

It is important to keep your pet’s microchip contact details up to date including if you move address or change phone number/email address. Please contact your microchip provider direct to update your details.

International Volunteer Day

It is such a rewarding thing to do to volunteer your time to help others. At this time of year it is more important than ever to support both animals and humans. Here at Bridge vets we have three team members that volunteer for StreetVet supporting the pets of the homeless community. Our patient care assistant Lynn also volunteers for Park Run at the weekend.

Most rescue centres would also gratefully receive donations of toys and food to treat the pets in their care at Christmas if you are looking for a way to help contribute.

Biscuit needed a nail clip when he came in for his booster recently. He was such a good boy and very much enjoyed his treats while the nurses gave him a pedicure.

☃️ Snowy weather ☃️

It looks so lovely when it snows - there are a few things you may want to consider for your pets as the temperatures start to drop.

🐶 Dogs 🐶
Use coats and jumpers for shorthaired breeds.
Stay away from frozen ponds and lakes
Check paws after walking in the snow for compacted snow
Remember antifreeze and rock salt can be poisonous for your pets.

🐱 Cats 🐱
Keep bedding away from cold draughts
Before setting off in your car tap the bonnet and check the wheels for sleeping cats - they like to crawl up there and sleep on a warm engine.

🐰 Rabbits and Guinea pigs 🐰
Need extra bedding for warmth
Insulate hutches
As the temperature drops consider moving hutches into sheds or garages.

If you have any photos of your pets enjoying the snow we would love to see them. Here are some of our staff pets enjoying the snowy weather.

💚 Bodie 💚

Not all dogs enjoy coming to see us and some can find it quite stressful. The beautiful Bodie can find it quite overwhelming at the vets so we worked with her owners to try and make the visit as calm as possible. We were very pleased to receive some lovely feedback from her owners and this gorgeous picture of her relaxing at home afterwards.

Well done Bodie - you were a superstar ⭐️

🌃 Dark Evenings 🌃

With the evenings now getting darker we thought we would share a few top tips for walking your dog in the dark.

🔦 Take a torch with you or better yet a head lamp to keep your hands free.
🦺 Wear light colour clothing and a reflective jacket or sash.
🦮 Consider purchasing a reflective or light up collar, lead or coat for your dog. We are now stocking these so feel free to pop in and pick up a lead or collar from us.
👀 Dogs have better night vision than us and may see things that we can’t, be prepared for them to dart off.

Remembrance Day

Today is dedicated to honouring military personnel who lost their lives in service to their country. Wearing a poppy is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our armed forces, veterans and their families. It represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day.

We would also like to take a moment to remember the animals that also served and invite you to join us.

National Stress Awareness Day

While stress can sometimes serve as a helpful motivator, too much of it can negatively impact our mood, body and mind.

This is where our pets play an important role. They can greatly help reduce stress and boost mental well-being. Interacting with pets has a soothing effect on the body, helping to lower blood pressure, ease anxiety and increase feelings of social support.

Petting or cuddling animals can release oxytocin , a hormone that promotes relaxation and bonding, while also lowering cortisol levels, which are linked to stress.

Feeling stressed? Take a few extra moments today to cuddle your pet and ease those feelings of tension.

Have you lost a tortoise?

We have had a very friendly Mediterranean tortoise brought in to us this afternoon. It was found at Eaton Park.

It is roughly 16cm long and 12cm in width and sadly no microchip found.

If you think it is your tortoise then please call us on 01603 783920. Proof of ownership will of course be required.

💚 Lily and Toby 💚

These two superstars very kindly donated blood to the practice recently that we could use for other patients. We are incredibly grateful to them and their wonderful owners for being so generous. They both had excellent taste in toys too!!
