With over 2 years extensive development, utilising the latest technology, we are delighted to bring you our new innovation. Our users asked us for extra measurement range in the low end of the spectrum, below 400nm, and a more simplified way to understand optimal lighting in one place, rather than having to cross reference DLI, Spectrum and PAR.

During that time, we have been working on a new calibration routine which is significantly more in depth in order to deliver some of the additional features that we now have, including the increased detection range of 350 to 1100nm up from (380 to 800nm) and other features such as cPUR, YPF, CQS, and CRI.

We are delighted to have achieved this goal with the outcome being: PARwise PRO.

Light changes with depth and clarity so too does the requirements of plants and animals. PARwise Pro – takes PAR and Spectrum together to give you cPUR – an accurate comparative measurement of what corals actually need making measuring light even easier.

PARwise Pro measures cPUR, PAR, Spectrum, DLI, Kelvin & Lux and now comes with a further 7 light measurement features:

NEW: Spectrum detection range. Our spectrum measurement now encompasses Near UV-A & Infrared – Picking up all the important NUV wavelengths for corals and wasted energy in heat from IR! - Helping you avoid nuisance algae growth

NEW Colour Rendering Index: CQS

NEW correction factors. Now – when you select the sensor icon, you get the option to choose whether you’re measuring in air, freshwater and saltwater – there are very slight refraction differences for saltwater vs freshwater in science – so this is now included for added perfection. It’s now easier to tell which mode you’re in as well with new icons and dashboard graphics.

NEW cPUR Daily Light Integral (DLI) is based on the PAR spectrum – in order to replace this outdated measurement, we now have cPUR Light Integral to use. This gives us the ability to measure the suitable coral light levels over time, using the cPUR weighted result.

NEW YPF - (Yield Photon Flux) measures the effectiveness of light wavelengths in driving photosynthesis in plants

We are so excited to bring you news of our latest new launch.

PARwise Pro is the ground breaking new product which incorporates our latest innovation: cPUR. An all new lighting measurement created for aquarists to simplify light measurements in a way that makes setting up lights and achieving perfect coral placement, the first time, every time.

cPUR (Coral Photosynthetically Usable Radiation) is the measurement that replaces the outdated PAR measurement and compares it against the actual absorbance curve of coral’s zooxanthellae and pigments – reducing the need to cross reference data.

PARwise Pro also includes a much-widened spectral range of 380nm to 1100nm with NUV detection to 350nm and calibrations for use in Air, Freshwater and Saltwater along with 7 other features!

PAR alone does not tell us whether the light we’re measuring is optimal for coral growth. It is possible to have a high PAR level however, it could all be in the incorrect part of the spectrum.

As a measurement it is outdated!

The cPUR measurement only includes the light wavelengths and intensity of light that corals can use. It excludes the wavelengths that corals do not efficiently use for photosynthetic processes or fluorescent protein production. For the re**er, it’s like having a ‘PAR value’ that is relevant! This is THE new gold standard measurement for coral reef lighting.

The green background in the graph above, is the absorbance area for all coral chlorophyll and colour pigments. The blue spectrum shown (measured light using a reef LED) is compared against it, including the intensity level to give the CPUR value. Light outside of the optimal range is ignored in the result and is considered as wastage.

We've just released a helpful little PARwise holder! - This uses the very commonly found 'Action Camera Mount'. You can now attach your PARwise to floating selfie sticks, clamps and many other things for use in the field or at home!

Wishing our friends over at CoralVue and all the affected people in the areas a safe storm passage! 🤯
