We could not be prouder of our wonderful vet, Claire Willis, who has been awarded StreetVet Vet Volunteer of the Year 2024, with the award presented to Claire by none other than StreetVet ambassador Lorraine Kelly! 👏👏👏
We are so happy to see her dedication, compassion, and commitment to both her patients and the community recognised in this way 💙
Claire fits in her incredible work as StreetVet Norwich team lead alongside her demanding full-time role as a Veterinary Surgeon. Claire provides emergency and critical care for Taverham Vets Norwich Night Vet and also works day shifts at the hospital. On top of an already very full schedule, Claire is a mentor and supervisor to new graduate vets, guiding them through their initial years post-graduation 🎓
Congratulations Claire from your very proud Taverham Vets family. So well deserved! 🩺🏥👩⚕️🐾🎉💙🥰💙🎉🐾👩⚕️🏥🩺
This stunning feline is Bimini 🐈⬛
He recently spent the day with the Taverham Vets Bure Valley team to be castrated
He was expertly cared for by Vet Ellen, Veterinary Nurse Paula and Animal Nursing Assistant Vic.
Bimini was a superstar patient and was back home later that same day recovering with his family ❤️ we are pleased to report that he has since made a full recovery and is back to his mischievous, funny ways 😹
Thank you ❤️
To our wonderful clients and friends who donated to Breast Cancer Now as team Longwater wore it pink 🩷 in honour and memory of our beloved colleague April 🕊️
Ivar is a 2-year-old Newfoundland who recently joined the Pet Health Club plus ➕
As a PHC➕ member Ivar gets unlimited consultations*
Ivar presented with itchy, sore ears and was seen by vet Henry who performed a full health check, including ear swabs for cytology. Cytology showed the presence of malassezia, a type of yeast found on the skin and ears. In most cases this causes no harm, however an abnormal overgrowth of malassezia can make the skin or ears red, inflamed and sore, such as in Ivar's case.
Ivar has been prescribed an antifungal treatment alongside steroids to help reduce the inflammation, and an ear cleaner to help keep the ear clean and combat bacterial and fungal overgrowth.
We will follow up with Ivar again in 2 weeks to check how he's doing and repeat the cytology ✅
As a PHC➕ member the consultation cost is all included giving his owners peace of mind he's covered for his visits 😌
*T&C's apply, specialist, referral or out-of-hours consultations are not included. Consultation fees associated with administering injections or chronic conditions are not included but discounted for PHC plus members.
This little Hoglet spent time being hand reared by our team after being found orphaned 🦔
They have now been transferred to a local wildlife centre for continued care, until they are able to be released next year.
Good luck little Hoglet 🤩
Norri's concerned owner contacted us out-of-hours when she was experiencing bouts of vomiting that contained white mushrooms. Norri was also lethargic and not wanting to eat, a stark contrast to her usual playful self.
Our dedicated team provided immediate telephone advice and an appointment for Norri. Upon her arrival at the clinic, our team conducted a thorough examination, which included blood tests. These tests can be useful in diagnosing toxins based on their potential effects on organ function, as well as monitoring patient progression. To alleviate her symptoms, Norri was also administered an anti-sickness drug to help her feel more comfortable.
Given that the specific type of mushroom ingested was unidentifiable, we proceeded with precautionary treatments. Norri received fluid therapy, specific liver support therapy and activated charcoal, which is effective in absorbing ingested toxins. Norris's blood tests did initially show raised liver parameters, following a 3-night stay with our hospital team we are pleased to report that Norri made a full recovery.
We wish Norri all the best and remind all pet owners to contact their veterinary practice immediately if they suspect their pet has ingested something harmful.
