Just a little note to say, I’m not breeding mice at the moment.

I recommend Tiny Rex Mice and Norfolk Mice as breeders.

Introducing my new little Himalayan and Siamese group with huge thanks to Tiny Rex Mice. Lovely quality mice and they have already produced some gorgeous babies in the next video. Excellent temperaments too. πŸ₯°πŸ

You may have noticed I’ve been breeding ALOT of mismarked pet coloured/type mice lately which is not something I usually entertain but there is a reason for this…My blue tricolour project.

These have been a project for the last 6 months + and I’m really proud of how far they have come. Though still some work needed of course. Along the way there has been a lot of spare healthy and well tempered pet types produced which I have found some great pet homes for.

I made them from a blue Hereford buck with the chin gene hidden in there x normal tri does.

1st generation was very heavily marked tri with very little white but they carried blue.

2nd generation I crossed them together. Producing a mixture of heavily marked normal tri and some heavily marked blue tri with very little white.

3rd generation selected the blue tri only and the ones with the most white and least splashed patches, and paired them.

These are the result: Overly/poorly marked blue tri.

Next steps: I will be breeding Tricolour exclusively in blue/stone/white and selecting for markings as close to the breed standard as possible, this going to be a huge challenge. I don’t know of anyone else in the UK showing blue tri or or blue broken (which I am also making at the moment) and I hope to have some of each to show in the second part of this year. Alongside the cream and pew I am working on.

Just thought I would do a little update as I didn’t want people thinking I was spam breeding pets! It’s been a project which at last I am seeing some progress! πŸ₯°

It’s me. Laura. I’m the one behind August Cottage Mousery. Just thought I’d say hello as a few people have asked my name when collecting mice lately. As through enquiries the messaging is with the Mousery page, rather than my personal profile, so they don’t know who I am!

I’m mum to 3 big kids aged 15-25. I’m also mum to my 1 year old Chihuahua. I was a primary school teacher for over 18 years and after a recent career change, I now work mainly from home, in the life insurance industry. I’m based in North Norfolk between Norwich and the coast.

The mice have become a treasured hobby of mine developing over the last 6 or 7 years. I have enjoyed showing them with some success pre-covid, but due to costs of travelling so far to shows they have now been put on the back burner. I still enjoy working on lots of breeding projects and always breed for health and temperament first and foremost. Mice make amazing pets and I love sharing them and my experience with anyone interested!

Please feel free to message anytime. I often have new litters in the pipeline.

Babies on a chilly Wednesday. They will be starting to leave the nest to eat independently. So plenty of extra high protein food added and some extra bedding to keep them toasty warm. πŸ₯°

Nice little cream buck to pair with the splashed does from the same breeder. He’s proper chilled like most creams are and will have some lovely size too him once he has matured. Should be some show type creams available in the future.
