💔 Every year, thousands of pets go missing, and not all find their way back home.

National Lost Pet Prevention Month is a gentle reminder that prevention matters.

On your walks, keep your dog on their lead and supervised.

When you get home, make sure your gates and doors are closed.

If fireworks or loud noises are expected, see that your pets are safe indoors.

Whether it’s a gate left open, a sudden noise, or a slipped lead, the unexpected happens.

If your pet escapes, make sure your they can be easily identified, since it could be the thing that brings them home. Keep your pet’s microchip details updated and ensure they have an ID tag with your name, phone number and address.

It may seem like a short stop at the shops, but warm days and parked cars are a dangerous mix.

No amount of water can make it safe. If you’re driving somewhere and your dog can’t come with you, the kindest choice is to leave them at home. 🐶

Now that the days are longer and warmer, we all want to get outside and enjoy some adventures with our dogs. But it’s important to be mindful that hot weather can be dangerous for dogs.

Here are our top tips for keeping dogs safe in hot weather:

😎 Provide shade and fresh water

😎 Know the signs of heat stroke and cooling first aid

😎 Use pet-safe sun cream on areas such as the tip of the ears and nose

😎 Mornings and evenings are best for outdoor adventures

😎 Remember the 5-second rule (place your hand on the ground for 5 seconds, and if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog)

A dog comes in limping or shaking their head non-stop. It seems minor at first until we find a grass seed buried deep in the skin or ear canal. 🐕

Grass seeds can migrate deep under the skin and cause serious infection if left untreated.

This summer, a quick post-walk check could spare your pet a lot of discomfort.

Not sure what’s normal or when to be concerned? We’re always happy to advise.

As pet owners, our pets’ comfort and health are always on our minds, and we do everything in our ability to provide them with the best care.

But have you paused to consider what you can do to help save our wildlife as well? 🤔

Something as simple as leaving a bowl of water in the garden, now that the temperature is rising, can be vital to wild animals such as birds and hedgehogs. 🐦🦔
