The gorgeous Amber is looking for a new home and hus-bun 💛

💛 🐰 FOR ADOPTION - Amber, 5 year old Rex rabbit 🐰 💛

Amber is a stunning 5 year old Rex rabbit who was adopted out by the Sanctuary with her bonded mate into a larger group of rabbits.

Sadly, as can sometimes happen - those bonds have broken down and despite a lot of time spent trying to re-bond Amber to the group, it hasn’t worked out.

Amber will need to life with a neutered male rabbit with a calm disposition.

She is fed a good quality diet of rabbit nuggets, fresh vegetables & herbs, along with meadow hay and occasionally Timothy hay.

Amber can live indoors in a rabbit safe room where she can free roam. She can also live outdoors in a fox proof enclosure that meets the minimum Rabbit Welfare Association recommendations -

We cannot rehome rabbits anywhere where they will be housed in a hutch with no 24/7 access to safe roaming space.

We also recommend that you do not let rabbits “free roam” in your garden. They are prey animals and are easily predated on and are also masters of escape, so for their safety they should have access to a large, enclosed run at all times.

🤩 Over £760 raised at the Mile Cross Festival and Taverham Fayre 🤩

A fantastic amount was raised by our superstar fundraising volunteers yesterday, while representing the Sanctuary at two large local events.

There were lots of goodies on offer, including our much loved cakes, tombola and much more.

📸 JULY PHOTO BANNER COMPETITION 📸

Crikey, where has the time gone? It’s time for a new banner competition already!

If you’re like any of us at the Sanctuary, you’ll have hundreds - if not thousands! - of photos of your pets and animals that you see when you’re out and about!

We’d love you to share those photos with the chance of your photo being used as the top banner of our page for a calendar month 🤩

Your photo(s) can be of wildlife, your pets, family pets, animals you worth with etc.

All we ask is that you are the one who took the photo and you had the permission of whoever owns the animal to share the photo ☺️

Ideally, the photo will be landscape orientation and not portrait.

Leave your photos in the comments section of this post and the top 3 photos with the most likes/loves will be shortlisted, and our staff will then chose their favourite of those 3 to be the new banner image for the month of June.

ENTRIES WILL CLOSE AT 11:59pm on Monday, 30th June 2025 and a winner announced 8am on Tuesday, 1st July 2025.

🦔 Thank you for raising funds for another Hedgehog enclosure 🦔

We are always so grateful when people think of us when holding any event - big or small.

Today was the Cawston Open Garden day and some of our kind supporters asked for donations for Hallswood and they raised enough for us to buy another much needed enclosure for our Hedgehog Ward, which will be opening its doors again soon 💛

Thank you to those who donated while enjoying the beautiful gardens and a huge thank you to the garden owners who thought of us.

Every penny really counts and allows us to make a real difference for Norfolk’s animals 💛

🥳 Happy Friday everyone! It’s nearly the weekend - and what a scorcher it’s going to be! 🥳

That Friday feeling is a pretty good one - the working week will have soon ended, so it’s time to kick back and enjoy the gorgeous weather!

Animal rescue is a 7 days a week, 365 days of the year job though! It never stops and we never really rest as there’s always more animals in need of medical help and rehabilitation…

…especially at this time of year as we are in full blown baby season now!

We hope you enjoy selection of the gorgeous young birds and Hedgehogs we are currently caring for! 💛

Make sure to be extra vigilant during this hot weather for injured or unwell wildlife.

🔥 HOT WEATHER FIRE RISK 🔥

Lyz was down with the horses this morning and noticed a glass bottle sitting on the ground, which immediately made her think about what a potential fire risk it was with this hot, dry and also windy weather.

There’s some simple things you can do to protect yourself, and others - including wildlife and all animals, including -

• Avoid littering - especially glass and cigarette stubs

• Never leave a bbq or fire unattended, even for a second

• Have sand or water on hand to properly extinguish your bbq or camp fire etc

• Clear piles of dry leaves, sticks, branches and any other garden waste that could act as a tinder box

• Store flammable substances according to the manufacturer instructions - usually in a cool, dark space

• Don’t leave cars running if you’re parked on grass or near vegetation. One spark can be enough to start a fire

CALL 999 IMMEDIATELY if you have a fire out of control or can see one in the area.

🚨 GSD x Mastiff 8 year old male dogs - bonded pair 🚨

Note - these dogs are not in the care of Hallswood; we’re just sharing their plight to hopefully help secure them a rescue placement. Private home offers can be passed onto the owner for their consideration.

Two German Shepherd x Mastiff dogs. Bonded siblings.

8 years old.

Neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Child friendly.

NOT animal friendly.

Currently based in Suffolk and the owners are willing to travel to secure them the right home.

The usual end of month pop-up shop at The Sanctuary Pet Shop Norwich has been cancelled to allow our fantastic fundraisers to be at the Mile Cross Festival and the Taverham Fayre.

‼️ RESCUE SPACE(S) NEEDED FOR 10 YOUNG CATS ‼️

We’ve received details of ten (10) young (sub-1 year old) cats of mixed genders who urgently need rescue spaces, due to a relationship breakdown and the current care giver to the cats being unable to take them on.

The cats are semi-feral. Some can be handled more than others.

Some are underweight and generally out of condition. Some have skin conditions that may need treatment.

We are currently providing food to the person looking after them but we are already at capacity for cat intake so are appealing to the wider rescue community for any assistance.

They don’t all have to go together so single or small multiple offers are great.

They’re currently living in NR3 area of Norwich and are living in an aviary.

RESCUES ONLY. No private home offers. Sorry.
