PARVO VIRUS

Unfortunately, i have recently been notified of a poorly pup in Nottingham with a suspected case of Parvo virus.

Parvo Virus is a highly contagious disease that attacks the cells in the intestinal system and prevents the absorption of viral nutrients, causing weakness & dehydration. Parvo is extremely dangerous and often fatal, particularly in puppies.

Symptoms:
- Diarrhoea (often foul smelling & bloody)
- Vomiting
- Depression
- Weakness
- Collapse
- Sudden death

Thankfully, this is something we vaccinate against, massively reducing the chances of contracting the virus. Young & unvaccinated dogs carry the highest risk, which is why vaccinations & boosters are so important!

INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURE

Here at More Paws, your dogs health & wellbeing is our top priority, which is why we uphold a very strict infection control procedure 🙌

I perform daily cleans of all dog areas with an antiviral agent, as well as weekly deep cleans by our wonderful cleaners, and routine floor mopping multiple times daily from our trusty cleaning robot! All communal bedding is washed weekly, and individual bedding washed when the dog goes home. Dogs showing any concerning symptoms are isolated immediately and sent home.

Please DO NOT send your dog for daycare or boarding if they are displaying any of the following symptoms:

- Vomiting/Diarrhoea
- Lethargy/Depression
- Nasal discharge
- Sneezing/coughing
- Honking cough!
- Eye discharge

We are very much in kennel cough season right now so please do not send your dog if you hear any coughing/sneezing. Conjunctivitis is also a very common one that is often overlooked, but is still highly contagious, so please don't ignore that eye gunk!
