Those below are beautiful dogs that went with their owners for a bit of an adventure, this last summer:
Jasper, the cav, in everlasting love with his family โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ
Leo and Bear, the huskie and the Alaskan, that moved to The Netherlands for good ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ
Dottie, the yorkie, repeating at the glacial "Lago di Como" ๐Ÿž๏ธ
And Fred, the cockapoo, in France, already under Connie's spell ๐Ÿ“–

It's been now about 2 years since this venture started. I am really happy to have kept helping so many more pets, owners and vet colleagues with pet-travel affairs and questions. I would like to thank everybody who has trusted me and somehow contributed to this growing success; particularly to all the vet practices that are often referring to me. Also, special thanks to the beloved Polish community, which is a great network that always keeps me busy :) Hoping to keep helping and posting pet-travel stories as until now!

Can you spot Philip? It's not the nicest thing for these super sensitive beings to travel in general, but sometimes is just necessary, and Philip has done really well during his journey ๐Ÿ˜บ

It won't be possible for beautiful Archie to legally travel with her owners to Spain, she'll have to be rehomed ๐Ÿ˜• The only option would be neutering her, which would be radical, dangerous and unethical, then not really an option. As you can see, it's not always good news here. Monk parakeets are from America and considered invasive in Spain, and even a plague in some areas, where they spoil the native ecosystem. It's the same as rabbits in Australia, grey squirrels in Britain or pikes in many rivers around the world, to say some. This is not coincidental, it's always the same thing, always the hand of man, in the case of monk parakeets, irresponsible trade, breeding and ownership. One way or another, we wish the best for Archie at her new home in England, and being aware that she'll be visited often by her previous owners, once they settle in Spain ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฆœ

I am hardly posting lately because I'm typically quite busy and I have to confess that I am not the best at social networks... ๐Ÿ˜ซ But today I had to post this, because to have helped Lola to travel abroad and then to have received this photo of Lola in "La Plaza de las Palomas" of Leรณn, my city in Spain, has really made my day!! ๐Ÿ˜

Hi all! Long time without posting! I hope that you are all doing alright! Among other things, I have lately been working on the revalidation of my Companion Animal Official Veterinarian qualification, and I thought that I wanted to share something with you that you may find interesting. Along the years that I have been living and working in the UK, I have realised that there is general lack of knowledge about the existence of Official Veterinarians (OVs) and their important role for the society. It is difficult to simplify, but I will say that the British OVs are vets that work on behalf of the Ministers of the British Government, at the highest standards, to try to meet British and international requirements regarding animal welfare and health (which includes your pets), and public health, in order to enable legal and compliant animal-related trade/movements. This is paramount, for other countries to maintain confidence in the quality of animal-related British exports, and for Britain to try to avoid the introduction of serious notifiable diseases of animal origin, as it can be the rabies. There is an ecosystem of agreements developed over many years under the World Trade Organization (WTO) to facilitate safe trade/movements while allowing countries (or trading blocs such as the EU) to put in place justifiable safeguards. These agreements are based on the best available science but also advise on how to deal with scientific uncertainty. In some cases, substantial negotiations may have taken place to ensure that certification is possible at all and/or that requirements are attainable for the UK. And last but not least, the OVs also actively ensure that veterinary ethics and the reputation of the veterinary profession are well kept. Although long, I hope that you found this meaningful and you know now a bit more about the OVs and what we do ๐Ÿ™‚

Pyta and family had a splendid time in Lithuania last summer. Poms are spitz-like dogs that descend from Baltic areas of Poland and Germany, often linked in the past to the royalty. They are typically brave, intelligent and energetic, and as my daughter would say (she got it from "Bluey"!) "Pomeranians are small but hardy breed!"
