Listen up, everyone,
With this heatwave it is simply not safe to have dogs out in these extreme temperatures. I’m still seeing people do it, and that’s just not acceptable. We have to put our dogs’ safety first.
For anyone looking to book walks or training with me, I’m not doing walks in the middle of the day whilst this heat lasts. It’s early mornings and late evenings only, and that’s non‑negotiable.
I’ve adjusted my entire schedule around this heat, and I’m working overtime to make sure dogs are only out at safe times. That means no daytime walks at all until conditions cool down.
Training sessions are also postponed until the weather cools down, and I’ll get them going again as soon as it’s safe.
To my current clients who see this, thank you for sticking to the safer times and keeping your dogs protected in this heat.
Keeping dogs cool indoors:
Close blinds and curtains — sunlight through glass can raise indoor temperatures by several degrees; blocking it keeps rooms cooler.
Use fans wisely — position fans to move air across shaded areas or doorways to circulate cooler air, not directly on your dog for long periods.
Provide plenty of fresh water with ice — hydration helps regulate body temperature; ice slows warming.
Cool mats or damp towels — evaporation draws heat away from the body, lowering surface temperature safely.
Avoid cold baths — sudden temperature drops can cause shock; use lukewarm water for gentle cooling.
Best,
Javan
