It's our two year charity birthday today!! ππππππππ
--
The rescue, our cats, our foster family and all our supporters mean the world to us. Rescues are a real team effort and we are so proud to have formed so many incredible connections with loving hoomans who all come together for a shared passion π»
As you may know, we have a few sides to the rescue and all are equally as crucial to making a difference. Seems a good day to highlight just some of what we get up to on a day-to-day basis. π²
Side 1: Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming.
So many wonderful fosterers, opening their homes to cats and kittens in need. Some arrive playful and fluffy, others, well not so... However with time, dedication, love, understanding and patience our foster family work their magic, which in turn enables us to search for furever homes. π
Which reminds me...... Our total adoptions to date with kitties finding their furever homes is a MAHOOSIVE 510!!! π FIVE HUNDRED AND TEN π
222 in year one which astounded us but followed by 288 in year two!
The hope is one day we don't need to exist, but whilst we are needed, we will continue to work our backsides off β
*** Please share pictures of your beautiful adoptees - we would love to see them πΌοΈ
Side 2: Companion Scheme.
A scheme designed to find Furever homes for cats that continue to receive full rescue support, whilst helping combat loneliness and isolation in our communities. Older cats and this scheme are our greatest passion and we now have 14 long term residents, with an average age of 16. Our oldest beauty being Twinkle who is 21.5years old but is still as sprightly as some of our kittens β
Specialising in older cats does however, bring its own costs, concerns and inevitably heartbreak. We are so proud to provide homes for those cats that deserve dignity and the best laps to snuggle on in their retirement years π¨π»βπ¦³
Side 3: Microchip Implanting & Chip Checks. π
Microchipping has now been law since June 2024. It remains the top way to reunite you with a loved one if they go missing. Being an implanter is something I love, as it instantly means we add a layer of protection to our babies when they arrive. I'm super happy that Gail is also taking her course on the 26th and wish her all the best.
We also now have an established scan network of our own, with our foster family helping to support scanning efforts across Nottinghamshire. π
Side 4: Support and Advice.
So many times now we have heard people desperate for guidance yet they tell us people just refuse. When we don't have the space available, we pride ourselves on giving advice and guidance and not just slamming the door shut. We try our best to support them and signpost them to the most relevant options available. We can't always say yes to taking a cat in but we can always say yes to offering help. π
Side 5: Neuter Assistance Program.
Neutering is essential. We won't say what you all know already but please get your cats Neutered. ππ»ππ»ππ»Not only does it usually improve behavioural concerns but, you guessed it, it stops over population and adding more cats to the never ending battle we face. Our scheme is managed on a case by case basis with financial support offered at heavily reduced rates. ππ»
Side 6: Trap, Neuter, Release.
On the rare occasion when Furever homes aren't possible, we continue to support feral colonies in order to assist with overpopulation. Needless to say, we try our upmost to do everything and more but often support trapping efforts and loan traps out when available.
And breathe.....
So it goes without saying really...who has time to actually work when you run a rescue, lol. π€£π€£π€£ The main thing is it's all of our passion and we love it. π
There are so many people I could thank in this post but we'll be in touch separately as your support, love and kindness has been pivotal in making us who we are today. πΎ
So Thank You from Gail, David & I (Colin) for making this second year even more special ππππ
