Christmas Open Hours
We will be open our normal hours up until Christmas Eve when we will be closing a little earlier at 3pm to get ready for our Christmas Day.
We will then, as we have done previously be closed until Thursday 2nd January 2025.

We may add a few extra open days (watch our page for any updates)

As we mentioned previously we no longer have a free supply of the bird seed containers.
We still have a few left at the moment but if everyone doesn't return for refilling then we will soon run out. For us to start to buy these particular containers in they will cost approximately £3 each. As explained before we can only use new ones or ones that have had distilled water in, not fabric conditioner or food due to chemicals and smells left behind which could be detrimental to wildlife.
As from next year if you want to avoid plastic bags and only pay for the loose seeds and feeds you will need to bring along your own containers. We don't mind what type you bring along as long as they are clean and completely dry, a couple of examples in the pictures.
We are hoping to be able to offer a selection of containers in the new year for you to buy if you prefer. These will be yours for refilling rather than the swap service we have been offering.

We are now fully sold out of southcliff raw dog food a little quicker than expected. We do still have a few bags left of Nature's Menu. We won't be refilling the freezer as we have an exciting refurbishment happening over Christmas and need to empty and defrost it.

Just a little warning regarding the Christmas treats many stores are now starting to stock for dogs at christmas.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog spending some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas.

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell.
Now comes the pretty festive colors and the glue to form cute shapes.
On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn't bad enough, they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking.
The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Leave them in the stores where they belong or if some well meaning person buys them for your dog put them safely away for later, then dispatch in the bin!
