Golden oldies🐶

Let’s talk about senior dogs and the different care they may need.

I’ve been grooming Poppy since I started nearly 7 years ago and over the years I have had to change the way I groom her so she stays comfortable and happy in my care.

When dogs get older their joints become more stiff, their hearing and eyes may become impaired so adjustments will need to be made when grooming them.

Little Poppy can’t lift her legs very well so we groom her in different ways so she is more comfortable. She is also loosing a little sight in her eyes so when I am sc******ng I need to reassure her and let her know what I’m doing before I start to scissor so she doesn’t panic.

Poppy always leave happy and excited after her groom as she just loves to be short💜

💜🐾Meet your groomer🐾💜

Hi everyone my name is Dee-Ann (Dee) and I am the proud owner of Pawfect paws. I thought after 6years of dog grooming I would introduce myself.

Before I started the best job ever! I used to work as an area manger at Subway. I worked for subway for 15 years starting as a Sandwich artist then supervisor to manager before area manager. I really liked the job but new it was not my passion and new I need to move on.

The love I felt for my own dogs inspired me to start grooming as I wanted to care and dedicate my time to love and care for your furry friends. It is important to me that you as owners feel comfortable and happy to leave your furry friends with me.

I like to make sure I’m learning all the time so I can provide the highest of care and produce the best style for your pooch. It is very important to me that your pet is comfortable and happy when they are in the salon.

🐾Fun things to know about your groomer🐾

🐶Most of my family are from and live in Canada
🐶I have a 19 year old daughter
🐶I have been with my husband since I was 17
🐶I love to travel
🐶 I love spicy food and coffee
🐶hiking is something I want to do more of
🐶I want to do wild camping ⛺️
🐶I hate flying ✈️ but have only been on a few short haul flights the rest have been over 9hrs long 😬

Hands up if you brush your dogs teeth ✋

If the answer is you don’t brush them then now’s the time to start. You may think brushing your dogs teeth is silly or unnecessary but I can assure you they do need it and deserve it🦷

There IS a point where I wouldn’t be able to help and it would have to be a referral to the vets. So before it gets to that stage why not book in with me.

Puppy bombshell 🐶

Betsy had her first big girl clip having to go a little short due to a few tight mats but doesn’t she look adorable 🥰

Betsy has had a few puppy introductions to the salon so she was full of confidence and super relaxed when it came to her groom.

I like to make sure when puppies enter the salon they are introduced in the best possible way,setting them up for life long happiness🐶

💜Let’s talk about our dogs aging💜 I did a fabulous course on dogs becoming older and needing more support physically and mentally. It taught me that routine within the salon was very important and to make sure to talk to the dogs as well as hand signals. This is to help them when they start becoming old and maybe getting dementia as this will help them be calm and relaxed. They will know this is how we have always done it and that command or hand signal means to turn or that I’m going to start drying them. This is especially helpful with bigger dogs but the routine helps them all. By me doing things exactly the same from start to finish each time they visit, this helps them settle as they can predict what’s going to happen. This is how we build that bond and trust💜

We do love our customers 💜 Thank you for the treats today it was so lovely to take 2 minutes to have refreshments 🐶

How adorable is little Marley🥰 He’s an older gentleman who likes a simple life and just wants to relax so when he’s in the salon I make sure that’s just what he does. This is him sleeping while I dry his little head💜

Dolly was in for her teeth clean and a full groom but she has to give me a dance after! I call her my dancing princess 👑
