As we enter the fall season, horse owners need to stay vigilant for signs of laminitis. Laminitis is just as common in the fall as it is in the spring.

It often occurs due to sudden changes in diet, such as grazing on lush fall pastures rich in sugar.

🔍 What to Look For:

- Reluctance to move

- Stiffness

- Shifting weight from foot to foot

- Increased digital pulse near the hoof

🛡️ Prevention Tips:

- Limit access to rich pastures during cool mornings when grass sugar levels are highest

- Keep an eye on weight gain and if needed use a muzzle or a dry lot
