Each year the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Shelter cares for many hundreds of animals as they are brought in by RSPCA Inspectors or members of the public having been found abandoned, injured or as victims of cruelty and abuse. It costs the shelter around £500,000 a year to help local animals. All of our funds are raised locally from members of the public, companies and other organisations.

Despite our recent post, Onyx, our 13-year-old girl who’s been a stray for much of her life, still hasn’t received an adoption form and she’s now been at the centre for three months. 😢

Onyx has an independent personality shaped by her experiences. She can be affectionate but sets her boundaries. She’d thrive in a rural, calm, and cat-free home that respects her space. 😻

If you or someone you know could offer Onyx a loving home, please get in touch: https://rspca-radcliffe.org.uk/animal/onyx/

Kings Court care home in Newark hosted a delightful event for National Cat Day, where they invited friends and families to submit photos of their cats for a competition. The residents of the care home had the pleasure of choosing the winner, and with a unanimous decision, Greg, a cat originally from Radcliffe Animal Centre, was selected as the top cat. 😻

Greg's victory came with a wonderful prize, a hamper filled with feline goodies. In a generous gesture, Greg's owner decided to donate the hamper back to Radcliffe Animal Centre, so that all the cats there, who are still waiting for their forever homes, could enjoy the treats, toys, and food. 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛

This act of kindness has brought joy not only to the cats at the centre but also highlighted the community's care and compassion. It's a lovely reminder of how small acts of giving can make a big difference for animals in need. 🫶

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making our cats lives a little brighter while they wait for their perfect human companions! 😻

Here at the centre, we have a few cats still waiting for a second chance in life, they have been with us for some time now. Though they may have experienced ups and downs in life, their spirits remain unbroken, and their hearts are still full of love. 😻

Every one of our cats has a unique story. Some were found wandering the streets, lost and alone. Others were surrendered by families who could no longer care for them. They come in all shapes and sizes, colours, and personalities, but they all share one thing in common: a longing to be loved. 😻

When you walk into our cattery, you’ll see some napping in cosy corners, others playing with their toys and a few watching the world go by with hope in their eyes. They’re waiting, not just for any home, but for the right home, a place where they can finally feel safe, secure, and cherished. 😻

Rehoming a cat from Radcliffe Animal Centre is more than just adopting a pet; it’s giving a cat a second chance at life. These cats have so much love to give, and they’re just waiting for someone to notice them and offer them a future full of warmth and affection. 😻

Visit our cattery any day from 12.30pm – 3.30pm (closed on the first Wednesday of each month). You might just find that one of our cats is the missing piece in your life, waiting to turn your house into a home. 😻

When considering adopting a cat, many people often gravitate towards the younger ones, leaving our senior cats waiting longer to find their forever homes. 😿

Our senior cats up for adoption are just as unique and have wonderful personalities. They may be a little timid, shy, or nervous, but they will thrive in a quieter home where they can relax, curl up on a comfy chair and retire gracefully.

All our cats are looking for loving homes where they can feel safe and cherished, but why not consider an older one?

Thank you, Omlet - World Famous Pet Products, distribution centre in Lincoln!

Darrell loaded three pallets of cat scratch posts, soft beds, and toys for our animals here at the centre. Our staff were absolutely thrilled to receive these incredible gifts, and as you can see, Apollo couldn't contain his excitement and tried to help us unload the van. ❤🐕❤

The RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre is an independent charity that receives no financial assistance from the National Lottery or government and operates separately from the national RSPCA. We rely entirely on local donations from individuals, fundraising events, companies, and other organisations.

Contributions like this mean the world to both our staff and our animals. We can't express enough gratitude for your generosity. Thank you, Omlet, for choosing us as your charity!

Apollo is an adorable, energetic 2-year-old teddy bear who loves fuss and cuddles. He needs an experienced owner of large breeds to continue his training, as he can be boisterous and pulls on the lead.

Despite his size, he thinks he's a lap dog and craves attention from people and other dogs. Perfect for an active family!

Dot and Stella from Busy Bobbins have been generously holding charity quilt-making workshops in Nottingham over the last couple of months.

We are extremely honoured that they chose our cats to receive their beautiful creations. As each cat gets reserved and moves on to a new home they will take one of these wonderful soft quilts with them. 😻🐈‍⬛😻

Thank you to everyone involved for raising money and selecting us as your chosen charity.

Hot Weather Top Tips...

🌞 Walking 🌞
If the pavement feels too hot for your hand, then it's too hot for our pets paws 🐾🐾
Walking our dogs in the hot weather is definitely NOT a good idea. Their paws are extremely vulnerable and can quite easily burn on the pavement.

Our animals can also suffer with heatstroke and a hot car can cost a dog their life. 😢

This Sunday, 21st July at 10:30 AM, Cropwell Butler Methodist Chapel will be holding a pet blessing ceremony. All pets are welcome, and if your four-legged friend can't attend, a photo will suffice. 🐕🐈🐇

The chapel will also host a donation station, gratefully accepting money, tins of wet dog or cat food, towels, and blankets.

All donations will support our animals here at the centre.

See you there!

We are always delighted to welcome students from Ambergate Sports College to Radcliffe Animal Centre. Together, we teach the importance of kindness, care, and compassion toward animals and each other, benefiting both the animals and students.

The students demonstrated these values by hosting a cake sale and 'Name the Dog', raising over £200 and bringing in armfuls of towels, blankets and newspapers collected from their family and friends. Your generosity and compassion make a huge difference. Thank you, Ambergate students. ❤🐕🐈🐇❤

We all wish our cats could live forever and it’s comforting to believe they have nine lives. However, factors such as diet, healthcare and environment can significantly impact how long our cats live. Neutered cats tend to live longer as this prevents reproductive diseases and they are less likely to roam. 😻

In terms of age comparison, a one-year-old cat is physiologically similar to a 16-year-old human. A two-year-old cat is equivalent to a 21-year-old person. After that, each cat year is worth about four human years. Using this formula, a 10-year-old cat is a similar age to a 53-year-old person, a 12-year-old cat to a 61-year-old person, and a cat aged 15yrs to a person of 73yrs. Some domestic cats can live to 21yrs, the feline equivalent of 100 human years. 🙀

At our centre, we have many cats available for adoption. While some are still in their teenage years, others are over seven, all looking for a second chance at life. With their unique personalities, they have so much love to offer their new families. These inquisitive and playful cats deserve plenty of attention, companionship, and a safe place to call home. 😻

For more information on our individual cats can be found on our website: https://rspca-radcliffe.org.uk/animals/cats/

Tiger who spent weeks being rehabilitated by our amazing staff here at Radcliffe Animal Centre, is our 200th pet to be rehomed in 2024. 😻😻😻

Landing on all four paws Tiger was adopted by Abigail and Daniel, who instantly fell in love with him. Abigail has already given us an update on Tiger, and though he has only been with his new family a short while, he is well and truly settled and feels completely at home.

It’s a long way from his previous life in which Tiger was rescued by the RSPCA from a multicat household back in April by RSPCA Nottingham. He was living in cramped and extremely dirty conditions with lots of other cats. 😢

His story is just one of thousands of animals rehabilitated and rehomed every year. To find out more about how you can support the work of the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre please visit their website: https://rspca-radcliffe.org.uk/ or make a donation: https://rspca-radcliffe.org.uk/donate-now/

The residents of Car Colston village came together as Reverend Ruth Colby blessed their pets, making the event a great success. The animals revelled in the attention, and their owners generously donated much-needed contributions to St Mary's Church to support our animals here at Radcliffe Animal Centre. 🐕🐈🐇

Thank you to everyone involved and for your wonderful continued support. 💞
