We have two gorgeous axolotls in store and looking for their forever homes ☺️
These little guys are truly fascinating and have been a staff favourite since we reared some from eggs a few years ago 🥰
Axolotls originate from one lake and one lake only in Mexico, even though the original axolotls found in this lake are an endangered species, they have successfully been bred in captivity for many years, so not only were the numbers greatly improved in the wild, there was so many that they made their way into the pet trade. It you look them up you can read all about how a group of nuns helped this species thrive in a little church in Mexico 😍
Axolotls are 1000 times more resilient to any form of cancer, which has been a great significance in the research of cancer 🤗
They can also regenerate any part of their body, including their brain 😲 although we don't encourage you to start cutting parts off your axolotls as this would be cruel and unnecessary 😊
They eat mostly worms, which we can always order in or can be found at your local fishing shop, we don't recommend digging them up out of the garden as the worms may be contaminated with pesticides which can be deadly for the axolotls to ingest.
