This 10 week old puppy has settled in perfectly after just one day in her new home because her owners had prepared everything perfectly. They hardly needed any advice from me.

This Yorkshire Terrier becomes very excited and pulls on her lead when she sees another dog.
When your dog reacts like this I have found the best way to stop this is to carry high value treats like cheese or chicken and when your dog reacts get her attention and cue sit & heel and reward. This will give your dog something constructive to do instead of reacting.

This Patterdale had been in 4 different homes and was nervous and scared of men. When a dog is scared avoid any sudden movements and let them approach you. Place treats on the floor as this will demonstrate that you are not a threat but a friend.
After 20 minutes he accepted me and I was able to work on some training.
There is a lot of work to do but that’s what makes this journey so rewarding.

This 9 week old Wire Haired Dachshund was just adorable. She slept throughout my visit. I want one!

Another very enjoyable day at the Ryedale Show where I met many new and old clients.
It was lovely to see so many happy dogs enjoying their day out.

These two Labradors had not had the chance to be socialised with strangers so we’re very nervous when I entered their home.
The way to relax them is to let the visitor in and then introduce the dogs. Here they are on my second visit. So if your dog is nervous of strangers let them come to you NOT you to them.

This Labrador walks beautifully at heel but pulls and wants to play with every dog she sees.
I have found that the best way to fix this issue is to take your dog’s favourite toy and treats on the walk. This will divert her attention to you.
It worked with her.
