Their eyes, filled with trust, seem to know the secrets of the world, offering a love so pure and unwavering that it feels like a gift from some benevolent force.

As time passes, the bond deepens, weaving itself into the fabric of your daily existence. The sound of their paws padding across the floor becomes as familiar as your own heartbeat. Every wag of their tail, every bark, every tilt of their head, becomes a language understood only by the two of you—a silent conversation that speaks volumes of love and loyalty.

But time, as it always does, marches on. The once-spry legs start to slow, the once-bright eyes dim. And then comes the moment that every dog lover dreads, the moment when you must face the unbearable truth: their time with you is coming to an end. day is a great time to look at whether dogs actually love hugs from us humans 🧐

Some probably do. But the reality is most probably tolerate it and some hate it. Dogs are individuals.

Hugging and kissing is much more a human display of love and affection than it is canine. Dogs prefer to rub against each other, or us, to lie next to those they love, to nuzzle and lick, rather than tightly embrace, which can make them feel trapped, stressed, or simply baffled by this human behaviour.

It’s not what we humans like to hear, we hug so it’s natural surely that our dogs do too? We like to believe they’ll experience our hugging them as a shower of loving affection. But they may not. It’s worth a paws for thought to see the world with their eyes 🧡

What a lovely long life! The world's oldest dog Bobi has died at the grand old age of 31.

Born on 11 May 1992, Bobi was recognised by Guinness World Records as the oldest dog ever in February of this year.

Previously to Bobi, purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo broke a record held by Australian cattle-dog Bluey, who died at 29 years and five months in 1939 💙

Bobi lived his entire life with Leonel Costa and his family in the beautiful rural village of Conqueiros in Portugal.

For his entire life he was fed the same freshly home cooked meals his family would eat. Rest in peace lovely boy 🩵
