Bonfire night is fast approaching!

If your pet struggles with fireworks, there may be products that can help! We sell many of these at reception, but if you feel you are still struggling, we can arrange an appointment with the vet where you can discuss how best to support your pet 🐶

I Ain't Misbehavin'… I’m just misunderstood

What we often think of as misbehaviour is often just a dog behaving like a dog naturally does.

We expect so much of our dogs when we bring them into our lives, forgetting that they are a different species that doesn’t interact with the world in the same way that we do.

We hold them captive in a confined, unnatural space and become frustrated when they don’t behave the way we expect them to.

We become frustrated when our dogs don’t walk nicely on a lead, don’t get on with every other dog or person they meet, steal food from counter tops, don’t give things back, guard resources, dig, chew or destroy what they shouldn’t, bark, howl or whine too much etc.

We need to replace our frustration and our need to train away or fix unwanted behaviour with understanding and patience.

Understanding that dogs naturally behave in a certain way and patience in guiding them to learn a different behaviour using force free, positive reinforcement methods or by better managing their environment.

Providing outlets to engage in natural behaviour, providing mental, physical and social stimulation and understanding why dogs behave the way they do will make a huge difference to their lives.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our dogs is our understanding.

Exciting flexible working opportunity for a consulting only vet!

This position is open to applicants looking for both full time or part time opportunities and would involve working within our branches in Uppingham, Oakham, Market Harborough and Corby. This is a great flexible working position as hours could easily be worked around the school day. The diary is always adjusted to make way for important appointments, family events and emergencies.

Our team of over 20 vets are down to earth, friendly and willing to share their wealth of expertise. We are also fortunate to have a large team of experienced RVN’s and dedicated support staff, all of whom share our passion for providing high standards of veterinary care to our patients.

As you would expect, our practices are fully equipped with an extensive range of diagnostic facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, biochemistry and haematology along with multi parameter monitoring. The whole team has access to Vetstream.

As a practice we strive to combine the provision of exceptional, bespoke care with progressive current best practice in veterinary medicine. Our clinical club meetings are a great way to discuss cases and exchange ideas, and we hold additional in-house CPD days for the whole team to continually improve and advance our standards.

Certificates are encouraged as our clients would much prefer an increase in our internal expertise options. We have 7 certificate holders across the business with an advanced practitioner in small animal medicine along with a surgical certificate holder based at the Uppingham site.

As a consulting only vet this role does not include emergency out of hours care, however you would be required to join our shared weekend consulting rota. There is zero scope for surgery in this position.

Please call Henry for an informal chat on 07825 621733 or send your CV to [email protected]

🧡 Ginger cats are more likely to be male because they only need one copy of the orange (O) colour gene, but female cats need two copies to be ginger! This is because the gene is attached to the X chromosome 🧬

😺 Some people believe that ginger cats have a certain behaviour or energy about them. But they are more likely to get behavioural traits from their breed, parents and life experiences, rather than their colour.

Exciting opportunity for a small animal vet at our Oakham practice

We are a privately owned, independent mixed practice seeking an additional experienced Small Animal Vet to join our expanding team at our Oakham practice

A keen interest in surgery would be advantageous

As a practice we strive to combine the provision of exceptional, bespoke care with progressive current best practice in veterinary medicine. Our clinical club meetings are a great way to discuss cases and exchange ideas, and we hold additional in-house CPD days for the whole team to continually improve and advance our standards.

Certificates are encouraged as our clients would much prefer an increase in our internal expertise options.

We offer a four-day week as a good work-life balance is essential to maintain the high demands of veterinary life. The diary is always adjusted to make way for important appointments, family events and emergencies. Our team are fully involved in practice decisions.

We take pride in caring for our own patients out of hours on an equally shared rota, maximum of 1:5 (currently 1:10). Our night nurse team ensure we offer 24-hour on-site care, as well as taking the out of hours phone calls.

If you value clinical discretion, would like to be part of a forward thinking, independent practice and work with a fantastic supportive team, then we would love to hear from you!

Please call Henry for an informal chat on 07825 621733 or send your CV to [email protected]
