Combebow Poultry

Combebow Poultry A small family smallholding in Devon, rearing traditional and rare breeds of poultry, turkeys, ducks

A traditional Devon small holding with over 35 years experience of rearing traditional and rare breeds of poultry and waterfowl. Originally "Lodge Poultry" of South Devon, Sam moved to West Devon in 1999 and Combebow Poultry became the new name. Finally moving to their new home, actually at Combebow farm in 2021. Our
birds enjoy fresh air everyday and are raised on an organically managed pasture

where we add herbs and traditional plants to the diet and grazing, to enhance naturally good health. Birds are kept in friendly groups and put into unrelated breeding groups during the summer, where they can enjoy a peaceful lifestyle and lots of fresh air.

Just a reminder that this is now far too close for comfort. Any visitors will no longer be allowed on the yard, and full biosecurity is now in place

Highly pathogenic H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Teignmouth, Teignbridge, Devon. A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone has been put in place around the premises.

In addition, an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory biosecurity measures is in force across Great Britain with additional mandatory housing measures in force in the following areas:
• Cheshire
• City of Kingston Upon Hull
• Herefordshire
• The East Riding of Yorkshire
• Lancashire
• Lincolnshire
• Merseyside
• Norfolk
• North Yorkshire
• An area in Shropshire
• Suffolk
• Worcestershire
• York.

All bird keepers in these areas must keep their birds housed to protect them from bird flu. This applies to pet birds, commercial flocks and just a few birds in a backyard flock.

All bird keepers should remain vigilant and follow the housing and stringent biosecurity measures in addition to following any Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area to prevent future outbreaks.

Please check the disease control zones on our avian influenza interactive map: https://defra.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8cb1883eda5547c6b91b5d5e6aeba90d to see what restrictions are in place and the biosecurity guidance available at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/bird-flu-avian-influenza-how-to-prevent-it-and-stop-it-spreading.

Combebow Farm Poultry

With an interest in pedigree poultry and waterfowl for over 35 years, Sam has bred many rare and traditional breeds, and enjoyed showing them all over the West Country.

Combebow poultry are all happy healthy birds, that get to spend time outside every day, and enjoy the best quality food and naturally managed, chemical free grassland. Breeding groups are kept small for quality and fertility and we keep our scale small to be able to offer the birds the best hands-on management that we can.
