Sam began his veterinary studies at Hartpury, completing a degree in Bioveterinary Science before continuing to study, Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC). After graduating, he completed a rotating internship at RVCโ€™s Equine Referral Hospital, gaining further knowledge and experience across the services; Diagnostic Imaging, Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine. He then joined RVCโ€™s Equine Ambulatory team, treating and caring for horses across Hertfordshire.

In 2024, Sam joined the Equus and North Park teams, working 3 days for Equus and 2 days for North Park providing him with the varied case load he enjoys, but has a particular interest in lameness and Emergency Medicine.

In his spare time, Sam enjoys exploring Devon with his dog, โ€œOliveโ€.

Aeisha graduated from Cambridge in 2020 and spent 18 months working with small animals and horses in Somerset before moving to Equus to focus solely on equine work in May 2022. She enjoys all aspects of equine work and is particularly interested in diagnostic imaging.

As of the 03/02/2025 any horses registered with the FEI will need to have their vaccinations recorded on the FEI HorseApp. This has to be done by your vet at the same time as the vaccination is given.

๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ž ๐ง๐ž๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ:

If your horse is registered with the FEI, please let one of our team know when you book in for your vaccination. This will then give us time to get set up etc..

Please make sure your horse is presentable. We may be required to photograph each side of your horse to confirm its identity.

The passport must be present at the time of the vaccination.

The HorseApp is accessible to owners, trainers and grooms so you may be required to input any previous vaccination data.

Following graduation from the University of Liverpool in 2006, Zoe has worked for a variety of equine practices in the South West including a large equine hospital. Her interests have always included medicine cases; which cover a range of ailments such as respiratory issues, gastrointestinal problems, neurological disease, ophthalmology and poor performance of the sports horse. This culminated in gaining her certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Equine Medicine) by examination in 2016. Other active areas of interest are Veterinary Physiotherapy with Acupuncture and Equine Behavioural Medicine.

In her own time Zoe enjoys spending time with her own horses at home!

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธโ„๏ธ Winter Horse Care Tips! โ„๏ธ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

As the chill sets in, itโ€™s essential to keep our equine companions happy and healthy! Here are helpful tips:

๐ŸšฐStaying Hydrated: Keep those water buckets flowing as a lack of water can increase the risk of impaction colic! Try adding warm water to slow the freezing process, or even a ball in the water can help prevent freezing. Water can also be added to your horses routine meals or alternatively consider mashes.

๐ŸŒฑ Turnout & Forage: Horses thrive on grazing as this is the way they are designed! If pasture is poor hay can be spread in piles to encourage physical movement and in turn also help gut motility. If turnout isnโ€™t possible, consider hand walks to grass which can help with gut motility and increase that fibre content to the diet.

๐Ÿ‘€ Watch for Laminitis: Even in winter, grass can store high amount of sugar! Limit grazing for horses prone to laminitis when temps drop.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿด Prevent Mud Fever: Keep those legs clean and dry to fend off pesky bacteria during wet weather.

๐Ÿงฃ๐ŸงฅRugging Right: Some breeds (i.e. thoroughbreds and Arabs), recently clipped or older horses might benefit from rugs. Just make sure to check on their comfort regularly!

Vitatone is a highly absorbable and extremely palatable Iron, B-complex syrup on a Sorbitol base tonic. It is designed as a "pick me up" for horses and ponies post virus or for displaying signs of poor condition.

Poor condition becomes increasingly common during the winter months due to change in diet and lack of nutrients provided in natural fodder such as grass.

Javier graduated from Valencia in 2015. He started his veterinary career in Spain before relocating to the UK. Javier joined the Equus team at the beginning of 2019 and has a passion for lameness and reproduction.

Javier is currently living in Spain and comes over for 1 week a month doing various lameness work ups and diagnostic work.

Javier has his own horses back in Spain and enjoys polo in his spare time.

Hayden qualified from Bristol university as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2010. He joined the North Park team straight after graduation, where he was a mixed animal vet. Hayden always had a passion for Equine work and went on to do purely Equine in 2015.

Hayden enjoys all spheres of being an Equine vet. He has a varied caseload and particularly enjoys dealing with racehorses. Hayden is often Senior Veterinary Surgeon at point to points and is a member of ARVS (The association of racecourse veterinary surgeons). He also attends a few of the local endurance rides as duty vet.

In his own time, Hayden likes to spectate at point to points as well as enjoying his own horses at home.
