To compliment our sponsorship of Omagh Accies RFC mini’s, we are delighted to be able to support Drumragh under 16’s. Both clubs offer unbelievable sporting opportunities for our kids and foster a fantastic community spirit for families in Omagh. Thank you!

Drumragh are delighted to welcome Corry & O’Hare Vets as the new sponsor of the U16 boys team.

As a family owned veterinary practice, Corry & O’Hare Vets very much appreciate the support of the community. This is why the family-oriented community values of Drumragh align so well with their own. They wish the U16 team all the success they deserve this season.

Pictured at the jersey launch are Drumragh U16 boys players Oisín Walsh and Ché Corry, manager Ronan Maguire, and Kieran Corry, Louise O'Hare and Pedro from Corry & O’Hare Vets.

💩 CALLING ALL POOPER SCOOPERS!!! 💩

Ever wondered if your wormers are working?
Do you forget to worm regularly or wonder if you even need to?
Are you worried about the impact of giving your pet regular worming medication?

We’d like to offer ALL of our dog and cat owners the opportunity to check the parasite status of your pets AT NO COST to yourselves. All you need to do is drop a pea sized piece of faeces through to reception and we will send you an individualised report within 3-5days.

This information will help us determine the levels of parasites prevalent in the Omagh area- a study that has never been done before. The more information we get, the better picture we will achieve. Faecal pots can be collected from reception.

Once again, thanks to all the amazing pet owners in Omagh for their responsible pet care!

Had a lovely little family in for visit today. This little one arrived as a pregnant stray to her new loving family. After a few weeks she surprised everyone with 5 kittens despite being a tiny wee thin cat herself.

Her new family have given her a forever home and have found amazing new homes for her 5 babies when it’s time to be weaned. With so much bad going on in the world- it’s nice to be reminded that there’s good people everywhere.
And most of them are animal lovers.

The beautiful Fianna in to say hello today! Anyone guess the breed?

She is indeed an Irish wolfhound. At only 7 months old and nearly 30kg she still has some growing to do! What a superstar!

Back in December we ran our memory Christmas tree again. Small paper hearts implanted with wild flower seeds were available to write the names of people and or pets who were sadly no longer with us.
We stored these little hearts u til the weather had (somewhat) improved and scattered them to make a wild flower garden. The photos below show the beautiful outcome.
Thanks again to everyone for their support. We raised £7000 for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland and a further £1500 which we gave to Care for Cancer.

During May 4 feral cats were trapped and then taken to our vets Corry & O'Hare to be neutered. Three of the cats were female and one was male. This Clara scheme was set up for farmers and for anyone who has a problem with feral cats that have not yet been neutered. Once the cats are at the vet's they stay there for around 24 hours and are returned back the next day. To use this TNR scheme, you must live around 10 miles from Omagh and your cats must be feral. To get further information please telephone 0778 3412 500.
With our scheme for domestic cats, 2 cats were neutered, one female and one male. With this scheme, the owners can make their own arrangements by telephoning the vets on 028 8224 3909. They must be clients of our vets Corry & O'Hare and be means tested or receiving pension credits.
Clara Cat Neutering Project is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers only.

That guilty look all dogs owners know well!

Naughty Mango gave us a very satisfying start to the week after she came in with a bit of a dicky tummy this morning. Turns out that Mango has a very refined palate and is partial to the odd undergarment pilfered from the laundry (clean basket i hasten to add😳)

After a little investigation we were able to determine that this little delicate had 2 little delicates lodged in her stomach. We had two options- massive surgery or let the boy play with his toys. Out came the endoscope of course.

Thankfully we were able to snare and remove the offending articles minimally invasively. No surgery, no pain and home none the worse this evening. I’m glad to report Mangos owners opted not to have them returned for further wear🤪

Check out the comments for some satisfying if rather unpleasant videos of the procedure.

☀️☀️☀️Summer job☀️☀️☀️
We have an opening for a young person (16+) to join the reception team for the summer for some casual hours.
The ideal candidate will be outgoing and friendly, good at working as part of a team. The job will be mainly reception based - booking appointments, helping with orders, greeting clients and marking them in on the system. It would be a good opportunity for someone considering a career within the veterinary profession.
If interested please send a cv to [email protected] fao Sharon.

While we're all delighted to see the return of some warm weather, it also means that fleas and ticks are back to bug us and our furry friends! Just a reminder that not all parasitic treatments are created equal, and resistance has developed to some of the older products that you can buy over the counter. If you have any questions or find any fleas or ticks on your dog and cat please give us a call and we would be happy to discuss.

Many thanks to Clara Cat Neutering Project for their tireless efforts in promoting for feline welfare in the Omagh area. These are very challenging times for all charities, more so those involved in animal welfare and we are so thankful for their continued support for our clients and their pets.

As we didn't have any feral cats to be trapped during March it was an easy month! The scheme for feral cats only was set up mainly for local farmers, or anyone who might have feral cats that have not yet been neutered. We will go out and trap the cats and take them to our vets Corry & O'Hare for them to be neutered. The cats stay overnight at the vet's and we will then return them back to where they were picked up from the next day.
From one cat a colony can grow very quickly out of control, a female cat can fall pregnant at 4 months old and can have up to 3 litters per year, with an average of 2/5 kittens each time till she is spayed/neutered.
Many farmers keep feral cats to keep the vermin down in and around their properties The many farmers that we have helped trapping their cats over the years to get them neutered are more than happy with the job that their feral cats do in and around their farms.
To use this scheme or to get further information please telephone Susan at 0778 3412 500.
During April one female feral cat was trapped and neutered.
With the scheme for domestic cats during March 5 cats were taken by their owners to our vets to be neutered. Two cats were female and 3 were male.
In April 26 domestic cats were neutered of which 12 were female and 14 were male.
With this scheme, the owners can make their own arrangements by telephoning Corry & O'Hare at 028 8224 3909 to get their cat booked in. As from this month, the owners must now already be clients of Corry & O'Hare and be means-tested or receiving pension credits to be able to use this scheme.
Clara Cat Neutering Project is a small non-profit organisation run by volunteers only.
Respectively we have to ask for a donation. Thank you, Eleanor.

Little Freddie’s miracle!

Look at little Freddie go just 4 days after major heart surgery. You wouldn’t believe it, but just a few days ago 10 week old Freddie couldn’t eat anything without immediately regurgitating his food back.

Little Freddie was born with a congenital condition called PRAA where the major vessels of the heart develop abnormally. With this part of the aorta which usually regresses after birth persists and entraps the oesophagus. This means food can’t pass to the stomach.

Our wonderful colleagues at Garvagh Vets rescued little Freddie and turned to our vet Kieran to see if he could work some magic with his keyhole equipment. Unfortunately being only 1kg even this specialist gear was too big for this tiny warrior.

Luckily however, we were able to perform an open approach to Freddie’s heart and delicately dissect around the biggest vessels in the body to remove the offending arch from around the oesophagus.

Within an hour, Freddie was up and taking in his first full meal since weaning without skipping a breath. Just goes to show- it’s not the size of the dog in the fight!

Look who we met out and about on a walk this weekend.
Ruby, a stunning little flat coated cockapoo had a terrible Easter weekend when a delivery went wrong and she escaped out the gate.

The horrible mishap resulted in a ruptured bladder and pelvis fractures which would have been fatal for many. Thankfully urgent surgery has allowed Ruby to return to walks on the beach- albeit on lead for now!
