There is nothing a nice as being able to take your dog for a pup-cup. With a lot of cafes now operating as dog friendly it is a perfect place to help improve your dogs social skills, work on focus and calm behaviour as well as ofcourse spending quality time with your dog.
Here are a few tips we have out together to help when taking your dog out to coffee shops

1. Exercise Beforehand; Ensure your dog is well-exercised before going to the coffee shop. A tired dog is more likely to be calm.

2. Comfortable Space; Bring a comfortable mat or blanket for your dog to lie on. Familiar items can help your dog feel more secure.

3. Training; Practice basic commands like sit, stay, and down. Reinforce calm behavior with treats and praise.

4. Distractions; Bring toys or chew items to keep your dog occupied. Puzzle toys filled with treats can also keep your dog engaged.

5. Gradual Exposure; Introduce your dog to the coffee shop environment gradually. Start with short visits during quiet times and gradually increase the duration.

6. Positive Reinforcement; Reward calm behavior with treats and affection. Avoid reinforcing anxious or excitable behavior.

7. Comfortable Seating: Choose a quiet corner or outdoor seating if available, where there are fewer distractions and less foot traffic.

8. Observe Your Dog's Comfort: Pay attention to signs of stress or discomfort. If your dog becomes too anxious, it might be best to leave and try again another time.

9. Hydration: Ensure your dog has access to water, especially if you plan to stay for a while.

10. Socialization: Regularly socialize your dog with different environments, sounds, and people to build confidence and reduce anxiety in public places.

Cora has been working with me every summer for the last 2-3 years helping with bathing and drying. She’s amazing with the dogs and they just love her over the next few weeks I will have a few days for Cora to have her own Bath & Blow dry clients at a special rate .

Super Pups 🥰 The hardest task to end our 3 weeks Sit, stay, touch … all at once… with distractions all around 👏🏼 seen some amazing progress with this lot

Full control 🥰 Getting your dog to wait and pay attention for you when there are distractions all around can’t be super frustrating! Our classes are aimed at improving the communication between you and your dog all while encouraging more focus and attention from your dog. Avoiding distractions and helping build a solid bond with you and your dog 🥰
