I've been coaching for 20+ years and I love what I do. I am a freelance instructor, not attached to any particular yard, so I come to you. I work Monday-Friday, generally leaving the weekends free for competing, clinics or other events. From time to time I can cater for weekend lessons but this is on an exceptional basis. During the week I'm available all day, even up to 9pm or sometimes beyond, s

o I'll do my very best to fit you in and suit your schedule. I have freelance instructor insurance provided by KBIS and I am a UKCC Level 2 accredited coach. I am police checked and undertake refresher courses for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. I am first aid trained and attend periodic refresher courses, so you can be confident that I am suitably qualified to provide coaching to you or your child. More at https://hgequestrian.com/about

Services

Coaching
I cater for all ages and abilities, and travel island-wide to provide lessons. Whilst most clients prefer a 1-1 session, I will happily work with pairs and offer joint lessons. Lessons normally last for 45 minutes (60 minute for joint), allowing you time to warm-up, cool-down and for us to have a little debrief. We'll look at what to work on for next time and how to work through any particular issues. What to expect on your first lesson
If this is your first lesson with me, there will be a few things I'll want to know before we get started and a few things I'll be looking at initially before we get into session:

1. Horse type, age, length of time owned
2. Goals and targets
5. Amount of work per week
6. Pre-exisiting injuries or return from a period off

Thank you to everyone who attended our demo with Jo Howie Equine Therapy I was incredibly nervous, holding a mic in front of an audience, but hopefully I managed to share some of my knowledge and you found it helpful 😘 Coaching is a passion, so I had to take a deep breath and just go for it 🙈 Talking to you one on one is so different to when it is one to many and a mic is involved! But we will definitely be doing it again. An amazing c.£360 was raised by you for Manx Carriage Driving 4 Disabled (MC4D), absolutely buzzing for Margot and team - thank you again. Our thanks also to Ballavartyn Equestrian Centre for organising and reorganising and Rebecca Le Blond Eventing for riding so beautifully with Minstrel who also behaved impeccably😊 thanks again and see you soon , Hannah xx

After what has felt like forever( it kinder is) this weekend I was back on my favourite chesnut warrior 😍 he's extremely wooly and unfit so we did 10 minutes but he felt amazing and what a complete gentleman he was 😇 I couldn't resist a little pop I think he really enjoyed himself as did I 💕🦄

Just a little news update regarding what's been happening here at HG Equestrian HQ

Firstly Zippy is doing really well after a very difficult few weeks, he recovered so well from the surgery and was just about to come back into work when we suddenly lost Monts. Then just 5 days later Zippy had a rare complication 6 weeks after surgery, where his body rejected the internal stiches dissolving 😭 but pleased to say he's now healing well, so we really hope that's it now! 😬

Secondly thank you for the great response to my XC, BV and Llamedos jumping sessions, it's been a pleasure coaching everyone. We're lucky to have such great facilities throughout the winter!

Llamedos day on the 31st Oct is now full, as is Nov 6th, but I do have space on November 20th at BV. Look out for more dates coming soon.

The demo with .howie.equine.therapy is also coming up fast on Saturday 9th November at Ballavartyn this time with Manx Carriage Driving 4 Disabled providing refreshments and snacks more deets to follow on that 😊 Hannah xx

Monty's Star in his first Newcomer Regional Final at the amazing Birchinley Manor a scary 23 years ago 🙈 the last fence caught us out on this occasion but he went on to be placed at and west in terrible conditions ☔️sadly missing out on a Horse of the Year Show ticket one of the only major championship Monts didn't jump at 🦄

in them days you were only aloud to do 3 regional finals and all your winnings counted so he jumped out of the NC class so we couldn't try again the following year.

Some amazing times with this special boy 💕🦄

I'm based at Ballavartyn Equestrian Centre 9am-5pm on the following dates:
Wednesday 23rd October
Wednesday 6th November
Wednesday 20th November

Full course will be up but also very happy to do poles 👌 spaces available.

I'm also based at Llamedos Equestrian each Thursday from 4pm, starting 17th October. On Thursday 31st October, during half term, daytime slots will also be available.

Ill be based at the XCountry course, Andreas Airfield on Saturday 26th October (this is weather and ground conditions permitting) spaces available.

Hard to believe a week has passed since my boy left us 💔

Zippy is equally heartbroken but has been so brave bless him.

I want to thank each and every one of you who have sent messages of support it's been overwhelming how many lovely comments, text, calls and hugs we have received and it's a real comfort so thankyou for that 💕

You took me to places I could only dream of and let me compete with my idols. You always felt invincible and loved a big crowd

I started to think you would go on forever. You looked so well and even enjoyed a ride the other week, still so full of life until you weren't 💔

Pleased to report Zip is recovering extremely well and taking everything in his stride like the dude he is😘 today he had his stitches out and the wound is healing well so he can now start hand grazing 🙌 in a few days he will be bandage free and can enjoy turn out again 🤞 all being well he will be back where he belongs by next weekend 🤞we have all missed him so much 😘

My boy has had his operation and is now happy munching hay like the warrier he is 🦄
the operation went well and he will now stay under the wonderful care of Stretton Hill Vets for bandage changes and observation for the next 2 weeks 😭 so hard to leave him but he's in a good place 😘 now to drive up for the overnight boat! 😴💤

This week we should have been heading to for some showjumping with Zippy boy 🐴 but unfortunately our next trip will be away for surgery to remove his bad eye 😭 I hope this will free him of his recurring eye problems and pain 🤞 such a kind and gentle horse that never complains, he's a warrior!

Obviously I had to buy Sunglasses for him to keep him comfortable( cost more than any Oakleys) but he loves them and i think you will agree he looks so cool! 😎🤟🎸

What an action packed weekend! Saturday was my final showjumping clinic of 2023 at Llamedos Equestrian. 10 hours of non-stop coaching - great fun helping everyone and seeing the improvements in horses and riders 👌 Consistency is so important in your training something I know and struggle with all to well, especially in the winter months! Pleased to announce that I will definitely be doing more in the NY so watch this space for date's. Thank You all so much for your support 💓 Today I jumped Zip at Ballavartyn Equestrian Centre really pleased with him considering the difficulties we've had in getting a consistent run jumping opportunities together 🙈 always trying and looking to learn, just love this boy 😍 Can't wait to really get going with him in 2024 🤞🦄
