Hi all,

It's been a mad few months with my day job and due to that I've not focused much time on the dog walking.

As I run a Ad Hoc service i haven't taken on new business since the summer.

Now the new year is here and I have more time available I am now opening my books again for new and previous customers alike.

If you require adhoc or irregular dog walking, home visits, vet taxi or in home sitting give me a shout.

Good News and Bad News.

Good News is foster dog Freddie is ready to find his forever home. He came to us as a nervous wreck, not house trained, smelly and rubbish on the lead.
Fast forward a month or so, he's clean in the house, sleeps all night, walks much better on the lead (still a bit wary of lorries), and much more outgoing.

Freddie is just under 2 years old, Irish born ex racing Greyhound. He's a tall lad that's all legs that he seems to not have control of. He is incredibly fast.
He loves attention and will force you to stroke him.
Freddie loves people, he's good with children as he is currently with a house full of them. Although children would need to be respectful.
He cannot live with cats as he's a racing dog and will chase small furries. He can live with other dogs and would suit being with another sighthound but should also flourish as a lone dog as long as he's not home alone for long periods.

He is crate trained and can be left for a few hours. He does like to voice his dislike of being crated at first but he soon settles.

Freddie would need a home with an enclosed garden with 6 foot plus fencing.

If any followers are interested all applications are to go through Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue . He is a wonderful boy.

Bad news. I'll be really sad to see him go. But with him finding a new home I am unable to help another.

Adopt not shop people.

Hello followers.

I'm sorry the page hasn't been updated for a while. I've been mad busy with day job and the fosters.

A quick update. We are still very much here and running as usual.

Firstly I'd like to say Apollo the foster greyhound is now very happy and settled with his new family. I'm getting updates and I'm made up for him.
Freddie is still with us and slowly coming out his shell as he is a timid thing. As soon as he is ready for new home I'll post about it and hopefully he will be as lucky as Apollo.

It's getting cold and wet now so the wellies have been broken out with the big coats. So why not enjoy the warm and dry and let us take the lead. We don't mind getting wet and muddy on your behalf.

Limited availability in Oct and Nov so drop us a line to book you in.

Walks, sitting, home visits and more.

I love fostering dogs. It's so rewarding. But sometimes you end up with too many.
Luckily it seems that Apollo is soon to move in with his new family 😭😭.
So being a tad crazy I thought a nice little crossover period would be nice.
Cue Freddie rocking into our lives yesterday.
Freddie is the spitting image of Apollo except he's a baby!
Born in 2021 I'm not even sure if he's 1 year old yet or he's just over 1.
Imagine a fast 25kg plus puppy that has yet to experience anything other than kennel life and the track.
Freddie won 4 races but then got bored of racing and decided that he preferred to play with the other dogs. So he ended up being disqualified from racing for deliberate interference.
The trainers attempted to retrain him using unpleasant methods which happily Freddie failed at. Basically he had no interest in killing stuff.
So he's now an official Dibbles Foster dog.
Everything is new for Freddie. Yet like all puppies he likes to steal gloves, slippers and socks.

Apollo has a Purple Collar, Freddie is in Green.

Foster Dog Apollo will be ready to move on to a new permanent home very soon.

He is a Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue dog that retired from racing this summer.
He is amazing and I want to keep him but I can't help other dogs in need by fostering if he does stay.

Apollo or Po as we call him is a 3 year old Irish Greyhound,
He raced in Ireland and the UK before being surplus to requirements.
He is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and has also tattooed ears as he's a race dog.

Apollo is incredibly gentle. He is very lazy and likes to sleep most of the day and from about 8pm onwards he is out for the count. He is very clean in the house and seeing as how he had never previously lived indoors he's perfectly behaved.

Apollo does not bark. I haven't heard him bark once since he has been with us. He does make funny little squeaking noises when he wants attention or to go out.

He is child friendly and enjoys getting fussed by all the children in the school run daily. He also lives currently with children.
He would not be suitable to live with cats as he is a race dog and trained to chase anything small and furry.
He can live with other dogs and would probably prefer that but again he would be happy with an attentive owner.

He is crate trained and can be left for reasonable length periods of time.
He walks wonderfully on the lead without pulling. As a race dog it wouldn't be suitable to let him off in public as his recall is untested and if he decides to chase something he can reach speeds up to 40-45mph. So not much chance of catching him. But in a secure field he has a run and then spends the rest of the time walking and sniffing.

If anyone is considering getting a dog please consider a Greyhound. Even if Apollo isn't for you.
But if you like the sound of Apollo contact Tia Rescue to apply.

Or even better, if you are not sure but want to test the water and do something wonderful at the same time. Why not register as a Fosterer with Tia. With the tracks closing dog many dogs will be looking for urgent space.

Check my previous posts about the Sheffield allotment that Apollo came from.

The difference between a Lurcher and a Greyhound...
Greyhounds don't want to run all that much. In fact they are very very lazy.

Lurchers on the other hand are a little bit mental!

This is the situation with the Grey's now. The rescue is desperate. Please can my followers share far and wide.

All the boys that are on the allotment have now been neutered and had dentals and are ready to go into foster homes.

The girls cannot be done and then returned to the allotment, it just wouldn’t be fair. They need to be in homes first.

We have only had 5 foster homes so far. Apollo, Peter, Blanche, Glenda and Vicky. To be honest I am very disappointed. I’ve managed to squeeze another four in, not to mention 3 boys from the same home who were fetched up here last week from Chorley as their owner became ill. (That’s another story for a later date, but if you are planning to use a Pet Transportation firm in Silsden, please don’t.)

I’ve just had to refuse eleven from the shed in Bradford that I’m sure you all know about.

The last race day at Askern is the 23rd of September. Please don’t think all those dogs racing on that night will be going back to loving homes. They wont, it’s more likely they will end up like the little girl drowned in Beverley not so long ago, weighted down in the canal. Just google it, it’s horrific.

After 27 years in rescue welfare is back, very firmly to square one….

I know things are awful at the minute but please, please help me help these dogs.

Thanks Deb

Foster Dog Apollo has decided he prefers to sleep indoors and snuggle with the Dibbles Apprentice, rather than being made to run for a living and being made to sleep in a cold allotment kennel.

He wants to make everyone aware that he knows he is very lucky.
But he still has 12 kennel mates on the allotment looking for Foster Homes.....

If any of Dibbles followers are interested in becoming Fosterers of one of these 12 racing Greyhounds that are destined to winter outside this year; then I can offer the following:

I can offer transport to collect the dog from Sheffield and bring it back to West Lancs.

I will also chuck in a free 1 hour walk a week for the foster Grey whilst its in your care as long as you live within my business area.

The Rescue cover vets costs, all you need to supply is food, water and cuddles.

Grab yourself a 45mph couch potato and save a life.

To become a foster check out Tias page and contact them to apply.

Two New Dibbles Team members joined the crew last week.
Pippa and Sam.

Pippa is a Wheaten Terrier (Grey) and Sam is a Cross breed Romanian Rescue (Blond)
Both are beautiful and great fun. Sam is a little camera shy though.

With dibbles you do not need to schedule regular walks. It's as and when you need them with no retainer fees.

Opps I did it again...
Today a new temporary member joined the Dibbles resident pack.
Apollo is a 3 year old Irish Race greyhound. He has never lived indoors.
Veteran of 13 races in Ireland before coming to the UK and racing in Yorkshire he was found straying and ended up being taken on by a rescue called Tia Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue .
So today started with a 4 hour round trip to Sheffield to collect him.
Its all a bit overwhelming right now and he's a tad smelly so the wonderful people at Short Bark ‘N’ Sides Burscough are currently giving him a deep clean.
Pics to follow.

She like to roll it in mud and grass because she is gross.

It's so hot! Please don't walk your dogs in this weather.
Dibbles is having a short two week break as Adam is away with the Army Reserve marching up and down in the sun. But he gets to make the choose to be outside in the hot weather. Your dogs do not.

Feel free to still send any enquiries you have as I will be answering them in an evenings.

This last week I had the great pleasure of looking after Thor. Thor is large, gentle, mature gent Weimaraner.
He has just undergone some serious surgery but it didn't stop him from wanting fuss and attention.

He's on a little and often bland diet, so excuse the "I want to speak with the management" face.

It was a real pleasure hanging out with him. Such a character.

We have Fostered 3 dogs so far. Two of which became permanent residents.

We’re looking for new foster carers to open their houses and their hearts to dogs who find themselves without a permanent home. We’ll support you every step of way and provide food, bedding and any other practical things you need. We’ll also cover the costs of any veterinary treatment. You’ll help a dog get back on their paws and into a permanent home.

*Please note, if you have recently completed an application form, we will be in touch soon! We are a very small team with only 1 person managing all aspects of applications, homechecks and rehoming, please do bear with us, we will get back to you as soon as we can, we appreciate your support and willingness to help 😊

I love working dog breeds. As an owner of lurchers, sight hounds will always hold a special place with me. But I have a huge soft spot for GSDs.

So when Luna's owners asked Dibbles to be her dog walker and sitter, I was very overjoyed.
She is a beautiful short haired German Shepherd. Still only a baby really so playtime never stops.

Can't wait to hang out with her again.

Cool weather walk today with Merlin and our very own Nancy. Merlin does seem a bit smitten with Nancy.
