COMING SOON! S K I N & C O A T C A R E RECIPE

A dog’s skin and coat condition and appearance serve as immediate indicators of its overall health and well-being.Canine dermatological disorders have been recognised by veterinary surgeons as a major issue in small animal practice, with an estimated 15-30%of the dog population worldwide affected by skin conditions. The Peptide+ Skin & Coat Care recipe has been specifically formulated to help aid skin and coat issues using the power of peptides.

THE POWER OF PEPTIDES FOR SKIN & COAT CARE
Skin barrier function The increased absorption of peptides ensures an ideal supplyof amino acid building blocks required for the synthesis of key proteins such as keratin (in hair and epidermis), collagen and elastin (dermis layer) that are essential for skin strength, elasticity and barrier function. In addition, collagen peptides have been shown to have a number of beneficial effects on skin health, including increased collagen and elastin production, increased dermis thickness, increased hydration and increased elasticity. Hypoallergenic peptides Dermatological problems can be the result of sensitivity or allergy to protein in the diet. By hydrolysing the protein to create small peptides the likelihood of causing a reaction is minimal.

SKIN & COAT HEALTH
Borage Oil: Rich in Omega-6 GLA, which is recognised as having beneficial effects on Trans Epidermal Water Loss and skin barrier function. Soya Oil: Rich in omega-6 linoleic acid, important for the epidermal water barrier of skin and promoting a soft, glossy coat.Salmon Oil & Algae: Rich sources of EPA and DHA shown to significantly improve pruritus, self-trauma and coat character.

DIETARY ALLERGY MANAGEMENT

Fish proteins hydrolysed to low molecular weight peptides to help avoid dietary allergy/sensitivity reactions.Formulated without grains, making it ideal for dogs with grain intolerances and sensitivities.

COMING SOON! D I G E S T I V E C A R E RECIPE

A healthy digestive system is very important to the overall health of dogs. The main role of the digestive (gastrointestinal) tract is to digest food and absorb the nutrients to use for energy, growth, maintenance and repair. The digestive tract also provides a barrier between the external environment and the dog’s internal environment, keeping out potentially pathogenic organisms and harmful substances. Poor digestive health can cause discomfort for dogs, raise concerns for owners and potentially require veterinary intervention. The Peptide+ Digestive Care recipe has been specifically formulated to help aid digestive issues using the power of peptides.

THE POWER OF PEPTIDES FOR DIGESTIVE CARE

The intestinal epithelial cells form tight links (known as tight junctions) between the cells that help maintain the barrier function and prevent potentially harmful substances from entering the body from the environment. If the tight junctions become damaged (e.g., due to infection or inflammation), the intestinal barrier function can be compromised, leading to gastrointestinal problems and potentially other health issues. The increased digestibility and absorption of dietary peptides provides an ideal supply of amino acid building blocks, which support the renewal of intestinal epithelial cells and aid in maintaining an effective barrier function. Collagen peptides have been shown to protect against inflammation-induced barrier dysfunction by inhibiting the breakdown of tight junction proteins.

PEPTIDE+ THE POWER OF PEPTIDES
Peptide+ offers three distinct recipes targeting three therapeutic conditions by harnessing the power of peptides:Skin & Coat | Weight Control & Joint Care | Digestive Health This range utilises the unique power of peptides. However, what are peptides and how do they offer benefits to the dogs you are feeding? What makes this range so unique
Read on, and all will be explained...
WHAT ARE PEPTIDES?
To understand peptides, we must first understand protein. Proteins are essentially large molecules made up of ‘individual building blocks’ called amino acids.Imagine a long beaded necklace, then imagine it has been scrunched up and tangled to forma tightly-packed ball. The Gastro-Intestinal (GI) tract breaks down these protein strings into more manageable short chains known as peptides to make protein more digestible. The shorter the peptide chain, the more digestible it is, and the less likely it isto cause allergic responses in animals. To find out more see page 10.With Peptide+, we have taken our Freshtrusion® technology and used a technique called ‘enzymatic hydrolysis’, which mimics the natural breakdown in the digestive system to ‘predigest’ the protein into optimally sized peptides.
THE GOLDILOCKS PRINCIPLE
Instinctively, most people would assume that intact protein would be best for a dog to digestas it contains all the nutritional elements together as one long chain. Similarly, you might thinkthat individual amino acids, broken down as small as possible, would be far easier to absorb. However, it has been proven in research studies that the ideal digestibility and absorption rates occur in small-chain peptides. Intact protein can be described as ‘too much’, and individual amino acids ‘too little’, however, small chain peptides are just right. You may even call these ‘perfect peptides’

In the human market, collagen and collagen peptides have become a major focus for pharmaceutical and therapeutic companies. Your may have undoubtedly come across an advert for collagen-based products for a range ofdifferent uses, from skin rejuvenation, to hair care and health supplements. In simple terms, collagen plays a vital role in maintaining the structura lintegrity of various tissues and organs in the body. For the health and wellbeing of our pets, collagen types I, II, and III are the most relevant.Type I collagen constitutes 90% of the protein content in bones, making it essential for bone health. Types I and II are crucial components of cartilage, ligaments, and tendons, supporting strong and healthy joints in young dogs while preserving mobility and flexibility in older dogs.Additionally, type I and III contribute to the strength and condition of the skin and coat, potentially alleviating dry and itchy skin issues and maintaining skin elasticity. The Peptide+ Weight Control and Joint Care, and the Peptide+ Skin & Coat recipes contain fish collagen peptides which are shown to help soothe joint tenderness, improve mobility, and decrease body weight, BMI and fat mass alike. The Peptide+ Digestive Health recipe contains turkey collagen peptides shown to be beneficial in supporting intestinal health and helping to maintain the barrier function which prevent potentially harmful substances from entering the body.
Intact protein can cause allergies. A dog or cat may be allergic to specific proteins. The body will detect and react in various ways to the proteins.
Hydrolysed protein When proteins are hydrolysed, they are broken down in to small pieces that are unrecognisable to the body, this also increases their digestibility.
Peptides reduce the risk reducing the size of peptides will minimise the risk of dogs/cats detecting and reaction to the allergenic proteins
