REFURBISHMENT UPDATE:

Our reception area is not going to be in use on Friday (28th) and Saturday (29th).
When you arrive, please ring the bell and wait in front of the practice and a team member will come out to assist you.
If you’re coming by public transport and won’t have a car to wait in, just let us know and we’ll make sure you’re seen promptly.

If you have non-urgent medication or items waiting to be collected, please wait until Monday to collect them if possible. This will help us manage the disruption safely and smoothly.

🛠️ Refurbishment in Progress at Anderson Vets! 🐾

We’re giving the practice a little makeover to make your visits more comfortable and to improve the experience for both you and your pets.

Over the next few weeks, you may notice:
• Temporary layout changes
• Change in the way we consult
• Minor delays at reception or during appointments
• A slightly “work-in-progress” look while we upgrade the space

🐶 We promise it’s all for a good reason — a fresher, smoother, more welcoming Anderson Vets!

🍂🐶 Beware of Conkers this Autumn! 🍂

Conkers (horse chestnuts) might look fun to play with, but they can be toxic and dangerous for dogs.

⚠️ Risks include:
• Poisoning from toxins (aesculin)
• Severe vomiting & diarrhoea
• Drooling, abdominal pain
• Risk of choking or gut blockage if swallowed whole

👉 If you think your dog has eaten or chewed a conker, call us straight away for advice.

🐶☀️ Heat Stroke in Dogs: Know the Signs! ☀️🐶

With temperatures rising in Orpington, our furry friends are at risk of heat stroke — a life-threatening emergency that can happen in MINUTES.

🌡️ Early Signs:
🐶 Excessive panting: Even when not exercising.
🐶Drooling: May be excessive or thick.
🐶Restlessness or agitation: May be pacing or unable to settle.
🥵Bright red gums or tongue: Can also be pale or bluish in advanced cases.
❤️Increased heart rate

⚠️Advanced Signs:
😥Lethargy or weakness: Dog may be unusually tired or unable to stand.
🤢Vomiting or diarrhea: May contain blood.
🫨Confusion or disorientation: May seem dazed or unaware of surroundings.
⚡Seizures: In severe cases.
🚨Collapse or loss of consciousness: A medical emergency.
