🍂🐶 Beware of Conkers this Autumn! 🍂

Conkers (horse chestnuts) might look fun to play with, but they can be toxic and dangerous for dogs.

⚠️ Risks include:
• Poisoning from toxins (aesculin)
• Severe vomiting & diarrhoea
• Drooling, abdominal pain
• Risk of choking or gut blockage if swallowed whole

👉 If you think your dog has eaten or chewed a conker, call us straight away for advice.

🐶☀️ Heat Stroke in Dogs: Know the Signs! ☀️🐶

With temperatures rising in Orpington, our furry friends are at risk of heat stroke — a life-threatening emergency that can happen in MINUTES.

🌡️ Early Signs:
🐶 Excessive panting: Even when not exercising.
🐶Drooling: May be excessive or thick.
🐶Restlessness or agitation: May be pacing or unable to settle.
🥵Bright red gums or tongue: Can also be pale or bluish in advanced cases.
❤️Increased heart rate

⚠️Advanced Signs:
😥Lethargy or weakness: Dog may be unusually tired or unable to stand.
🤢Vomiting or diarrhea: May contain blood.
🫨Confusion or disorientation: May seem dazed or unaware of surroundings.
⚡Seizures: In severe cases.
🚨Collapse or loss of consciousness: A medical emergency.

🚫 Never leave your dog in a parked car — even with the windows down.
🌳 Walk during cooler hours (early morning or late evening).
