Remember, if it’s too hot for your hands or your bare feet, then it’s too hot for their paw pads! ⚠️

If you’re unsure whether it’s okay to let your pet go for a walk on pavements, a simple way to test the temperature is by holding your bare skin on the tarmac for five seconds ⏱️

If you find it painful, then your pet will find it painful to walk on!

To protect your pet, it’s best to avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between 8am and 6pm. If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt.

Some grass seeds can really hurt our dogs. These arrowlike seeds can spear through their skin and bury themselves in our dogs' ears, eyes and paws.

☀️Opening Times ☀️

In an attempt to limit disruption to appointments due to the weather throughout July and August i have made some changes to my opening times and will not be open after 1pm except evenings on Mondays and Thursdays.
This is to ensure the wellbeing of dogs in my care as well as myself due to my grooming room becoming very hot during afternoon sun.

In the event i am able to groom after 1pm i will post available slots to my story closer to the time so remember to like and follow my social media pages. I will not be implementing a cancellation list.
Any appointments already booked after 1pm in July & August will not be affected at this time.

Heres a friendly reminder to check your dogs teeth.
Emmi pet teeth cleaning is suitable for stages 0 to mild stage 2. Stage 2 and above requires veterinary treatment.
Emmi pet is a preventative treatment the helps remove mild to moderate levels of plaque and improves circulation in the gums to help prevent gum disease.

Always a good idea to give your dog a check over for grass seeds, fleas and ticks after a walk.
Pay particular attention to between their paw pads and toes.
Regular grooming can reduce the risk
of grass seeds getting trapped in the hairs on their feet and embedding in their skin, aswel as making the area easy to check after walks.

As summer approaches and the weather warms, dog owners, in particular, need to be aware of grass seeds, especially if they are walking in areas with long grass.

Long, pointy and sharp, these pesky seeds can cause our pets quite a bit of bother and are unfortunately a common problem from spring through to autumn!

🐾 Paws:
Often found in the flesh between toes, the little seeds can embed under the skin and begin to travel. Keep an eye open for paw licking and lameness.

👂Ears:
After a roll and play on the grass, seeds can easily enter the ears, where they become trapped and travel into the ear canal. Watch out for scratching of the ears, head shaking, and signs of infection, such as heat, discharge, and redness.

👁️ Eyes:
One of the more obvious but most uncomfortable, seeds can enter the eye, causing weeping, swelling, scratching, infection, and irritation.

🦮 Respiratory system:
Keep your eyes peeled for signs of breathing changes, discharge, and sneezing too. These can be signs grass seeds may have made their way up your dog's nose.
