I'm just about recovered after my almost a month on the road, with the icing on the cake being working with Wesley again.

I spend a lot of time teaching others, which I adore but to have a few days to be the student was much needed.

Wesley gave me plenty of food for thought and I got to work my dogs in sunny Scotland with amazing group of people.

It's spurred me on to keep supporting people on mantrailing and trailing, to keep helping others thrive as well my own dogs.

It means there will be a whole host of workshops going live in the next few weeks to share all my knowledge in different ways and for those seeking different goals!

Lots planned so keep your eyes peeled 👀

Here is a photo of me not with a resting B***h face and Welsey calling me out of my control issues..... I HAVE TO KNOW EVERYTHING.

Was much needed clatter back to earth after being on cloud nine.

I am super excited for November...
I am SUPER excited to visit

This will be the first course of its kind over there, and my first time putting all the knowledge and skills I have learned over the past 6 years back into a course designed for setting you up as a mantrailing sports instructor. (Don't worry UK people, there are things in the pipelines for 2026.....)

I won't call it an instructors course, as I don't think you can learn everything in just five days but instead you can gain the foundations in so many aspects of mantrailing and learn more as you go.

Dog training is about experience and it's important to gain a good foundation, and then expand your knowledge as you go.

There is too much to know about mantrailing to really learn it all in one go, you need to experience it as well as know the theory.

It's why this course is called the foundation course... It's to teach you how to start off mantrailing teams, progress them on with lots of exercises, provide them with support, build strong teams ready to face anything and really get them off to the best start in mantrailing.

This course isn't a walk in the park, it is fast paced and jam packed full of knowledge to get you started as a mantrailing business and support to help you thrive. Which is why after the course you get 6 months of 121 mentoring with me for free, as well as the supportive community in NZ.

Couldn't you be the start of something amazing for all dogs.

You may have noticed that the long lines haven't been in stock!

This due to the manufacturer of the line material is stopping make it.

This means I have been on the hunt for a replacement, but having not been home regularly for the past few weeks it's been tough.

I'm testing out a new supplier, but until I'm happy I've managed to get some line back in stock.

I have a very limited amount of Blue, Orange and Pink webbing of the current standard.

Made as usual with brass clips and rivets.

Once it's gone it's gone until I settle with a new supplier.

Order yours here - https://trailingk9s.com/shop/

All our lines are made to order so you can order custom sizes as well if you want!

Over the past few weeks I've seen a lot of mantrailing teams and instructors.

I am very lucky to travel to teach across the UK and further afield, as well as have people travel to me. It is something I never envisioned I would be doing as part of my job, but I love it!

What I have seen is a lot of instructors and students putting immense pressure on themselves to be good for their clients, good for their dog, be the best there is or impress me on these workshops.

I am never there to judge a team, or make anyone feel like they don't know something. Because you only know what you know at the end of the day.

I want to guide people into seeing their dogs skills, as well as their own skill as a handler or instructor.

Help them progress on certain aspects and achieve their own personal goals.

There is so much pressure on being the best, or better than someone else that we really forget that is a journey.

Social media doesn't help this, and the ability to have someone only show you the best of their journey.

Signing up for a billion courses, or spending on a new glittery certificate doesn't make you a good handler or instructor. It gives you knowledge, but really you need to know if it's an investment in your wall art or your skills.

You investment in you, your understanding of things and knowing where you limitation are help you find the gaps.

The gaps in knowledge or skills don't need to be plugged in one course or workshop, they are filled with knowledge every time you handle your dog or teach a client.

Your personal and professional development is up to you, but taking the time to reframe it and breath. Then decide what works best for you, rather than thinking you need what someone else is doing or done.

I love teaching teams, and problem solving is my jam. It makes my brain tickle the right way to see teams thrive, but I've taken a journey to be here too. I am learning the same as you are.

Don't worry about the shiny things, enjoy your learning with your team and invest in those you know want to see you thrive, not as a cash cow.

So enjoy your journey. It's supposed to be fun!

🔊Calling all Canadians!🔊

I am over in Vancouver for the 5th and 6th July to do two days of workshops!

Due to dog illness some spaces have opened up and you NEED to sn**ch them up.

There are AM and PM slots, and we'll be doing three trails each session focusing on:
🐾 Progressing your as a team
🐾 Building up your knowledge of your dogs body language
🐾 Teaching your dog to navigate scent correctly when trailing
🐾 How to understand how your dog is processing human scent
🐾 Having a good time!

It's my only visit to Canada this year so don't miss out.

Suitable for all level of dog, as we can make advancements quickly.

Great for instructors to work their own dogs and learn more than what the book says.

Grab your space as they are LIMITED!

Contact Nicky at directly to book.

Bonus Theory evening on the evening of the 4th July that anyone can attend as well.

Trailing K9s - Get hooked on Mantrailing

Could Mantrailing be your “thing”. Ever wanted to do more with your dog, but not wanted to attend obedience or agility. You keep thinking you need to do something with your dog, but aren’t sure what. Mantrailing is the answer! Its high impact on the brain, and low impact on the joints. No running about for us! Which is a bonus and its super fun. There is no competition to be better than anyone else’s dogs either and its a super social, and fun sport. Its open to any breed, age and temperament. ASBO dogs are welcome!

Who am I?

I’m Kathryn Jones, I run Trailing K9s and Complicated Canines, I got hooked on Mantrailing after doing an introduction course and seeing how quickly my dogs loved it! I passed Mantrailing UK Instructors course in 2019, and then passed my Assessors course later in 2020. I trail with three of my dogs, and run trailing classes weekly through the year. Rain or shine!

What is Mantrailing? (No, it’s not a dating website)
