Driscoll Therapy Canine Physiotherapy
β¨ Exciting News! β¨
Just when I thought February couldnβt get any more excitingβ¦ here goes! π
As many of you know, I split my time between the clinic and teaching on the MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy at the University of Nottingham. π
One of my long-term goals has been to build a team at Driscoll Therapy, bringing together 'multiple brains' to ensure even better continuity of care. Having more than one physiotherapist means we can share ideas, combine our expertise and experienceπ
Finding the right person for this role was incredibly important to me. I wanted someone who shares my values, my passion for helping dogs, and my commitment to improving their lives πΆ
Iβm absolutely thrilled to introduce Diana! πΎ
Diana is a Masterβs degree-qualified, RAMP-registered Veterinary Physiotherapist. In addition to her physiotherapy expertise, sheβs also a canine hydrotherapist and a dedicated horse loverπ΄ She has a keen interest in supporting older dogs, pre-habilitation, and is an absolute wizard with soft tissue treatment!
Since the end of January, Diana has been shadowing sessions to meet many of you and your amazing dogs in the clinic, and since the start of February, sheβs been actively providing treatmentππΎ
Diana will now be based at the new Bulwick clinic on Thursdays, as well as offering equine physiotherapy support. Iβm so excited to have her on board - thank you to everyone who has given Diana a warm welcome already π

Today marks two weeks of being in my new clinic at Bulwick Barn π‘
It seemed right to mark the occasion with a βBetty appreciation postβ πΎ
Betty was the first dog I treated in Northamptonshire when I moved Driscoll Therapy to this end of the world two years ago π So it only seemed right to document Bettyβs first visit to the new clinic πΎ
I can confirm that new clinic is βBetty approvedβ and it took a few attempts (and bribery) to get Betty out the door after treatment π€£
Thanks as always to the amazing team Oundle & Thrapston Veterinary Surgery for letting me provide Physiotherapy support for Betty πΆ
Driscoll Therapy
SOMETHING EXCITING IS COMING....ππ‘
As most of you already know, in April this year I moved Driscoll Therapy to its new home. Unfortunately, the work space I purchased was not what what I expected. Behind the scenes, it has continued to cause stress and (soggy) problems (I'm a lover of water features...just not 20+ of them, and especially not when are on the inside of my clinic...πΎ )
I have loved my time at Lodge Farm (to be clear, this has absolutely nothing to do with my amazing Landlord but instead issues with the workspace I purchased from a third party) π‘
It had very quickly gotten to the point that Driscoll Therapy needed to move to prevent further damage to my equipment (and stress levels) π
So....please join me in my excitement in seeing a 'sneak peak' of Driscoll Therapy's new home (4 minutes down the road) at Bulwick Barns π
It has been an incredibly stressful 48 hours (and few months!) but knowing that I can share this (dry) and amazing new clinic space with you all has pulled me through a weekend of putting Ikea furniture back together and drying drenched clinic floor/equipment with a hair dryer in my living room π
You will now be able to find me at Bulwick Barns - NN173DY but for more information on where to find me, please see the website: https://www.driscolltherapy.co.uk/contact
See you Monday πΎ
A less stressed, but relieved Steph!
P.S - messages/enquiries booking requests will be attended to tomorrow, thank you for your patience.
Hello everyone π
I hope you are all counting down the hours until Christmas! π
Christmas Closure π
Please be aware, today is my last day in the clinic and I will then be off until - 6th January 2025. During this period, I will not have access to my emails/phone and will instead be drowning in mince pies and chocolateβ¦(as should everyone else!).
Thank you all for my Christmas cards and presents, Iβm feeling very spoilt! π
Animal Star Awards π
Iβve had a few emails asking about my progress with the βAnimal Start Awardsβ and my nomination for Therapist of the Year. Although I was sadly unable to make it to the awards night last month, I am pleased to report that I made it to being named a finalist in the Animal Therapist Category out of 900+ other nominations, which is enough of a win for me π
Thank you to those of you sent emails of congratulations and nominated me! Iβm in this job because I truly love what I do, and Iβm just glad it shows.
Wishing everyone a restful Christmas and a very happy New Year π₯
Steph πΎ
Well, Howdy there πΎπ€
This is the best kind of βspot the differenceβ in my opinion, because who doesnβt love a good puppy progress picture! πΆπΈ
Howdy first came to meet me when I was in my old treatment space, and more recently, she came to check out the new clinic space with her brother and sister! (She approves! π).
Apart from coming in to show off how stunning she is π, Howdy has been coming in to build her confidence with being assessed by me (a stranger) in a clinic setting.
It's so important to start getting young dogs used to being handled and assessed early on. Regular physiotherapy and gentle handling help build their confidence, making any future treatments or assessments much less stressful. This is especially important for young dogs who will go on to have active, working, or sporting careers. πΌπβπ¦ΊπββοΈ
Having your young dog supported by a physiotherapist not only means advice on safe, career- or sport-appropriate exercise, but it also means your dog will see being handled and assessed as something positive. π
Less stress = better assessment, and better assessment = better outcomes!
Assessment is a walk in the park for Howdy ππ³. She understands itβs positive, and coming into the clinic means good things for her! I canβt wait to support her as she grows.
If you have a young dog who will be progressing to a sporting or working career, please reach out to a trusted and insured physiotherapist to discuss their support. π¬
Woah...what an amazing past few months Iβve had since moving Driscoll Therapy to its new home at Lodge Farm! πΎπ‘
Having all this space to work with the dogs has been amazing (...yes, that extra space is quickly filling up with even more rehabilitation equipment! ππ)
I feel very lucky to be running Driscoll Therapy in the peaceful surroundings of Lodge Farm and have loved welcoming everyone into the new space over the last couple of months. πΎ
A huge thank you to everyone who has shared in the excitement of this big move with me! Your support means the world π
Now that Iβm spending less time with a paintbrush and hammer in my hand π¨ , Iβll be a little more active on here again! π·ββοΈ
ππ Big Reveal: Welcoming You to My New Clinic Space! π π
π Drumroll, please! π It's finally time for me to share the news with everyone....I have officially moved to my new clinic space! π₯³
I am pleased to announce I have waved goodbye to my old clinic space and hello to my brand new and much larger treatment space at Lodge Farm, Stamford Road, NN173EQ π π
As a lot of you know, it's been a long time in the pipeline and a lot of work behind the scenes but I can't wait to welcome you all ποΈ
I'm proud and beyond excited to call the space my own and it's all been designed with your dogs at the heart of it (every detail...from flooring to plug socket location).π·
Over the coming weeks, I'll be revealing more about our new clinic space and everything Driscoll Therapy's new home at Lodge Farm has to offer! π€
Until then, I can't wait to welcome you and your dogs! - I hope you love it as much as I do πΎ
P.S... please don't turn up to the old clinic room...I won't be there! π

πΎ Remembering Mr. Whizzer π
Last year, I had the privilege of working closely with Mr. Whizzer. Whizzer was a lovely boy who had been diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, a condition that progressively reduced his mobility. One thing research shows us is that, although there is no cure for this condition, utilising physiotherapy can help dogs to maintain their mobility and independence for as long as possible. πΎ
I had the pleasure of working with Whizzer closely and regularly for almost a year. His family were incredibly dedicated in carrying out his home physiotherapy and during this time we were able to help continue to keep him as mobile as possible, for as long as possible.
I will always have fond memories of Whizzer having his physiotherapy outside in the sunshine βοΈ and how if I was 0.2 seconds behind Whizzerβs schedule he would quickly tell me that I needed to open the treat pot faster!! π¦΄
Though Whizzer is no longer with us, his legacy lives on. His family's kindly donated his wheelchair, supports, and harness to me so that he continues to help other dogs in need. He has already helped lots of other dogs by lending them his wheels so that they can keep moving, just like he did. πΎπ
π·π° Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter! π£πΎ
Too good not to share my Easter Driscoll Therapy mascots! π I hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday with loved ones (both four and two legged!). π°
I'll reply to any messages and emails on Tuesday (will be eating my body weight in chocolate until then)...πΎπ
πΎ Don't Let Age Slow Them Down! πΎ
I often hear people say 'they're just getting older'...when talking about their dog's changing mobility. πΆ It's easy to brush off changes in mobility as just a part of getting older, but it's essential to pay attention to these signs π΅οΈββοΈ
It is also so important to spread the word that there is SO much you can do to support your older dog's mobility πΎ Proactive measures like physiotherapy can make a world of difference in maintaining your dog's mobility and quality of life! π
From gentle exercises to targeted therapies, physiotherapy can help address pain, improve flexibility, and enhance overall mobility. πβ¨ The best bit is... there is often a tool kit of exercises/support I can teach you to implement at home!
If you notice any changes in your dog's mobility, don't hesitate to reach out to Driscoll Therapy π Together with your veterinarian, we can help improve your dog's mobility and quality of life πͺ
