Oh what a week!! 🫢
Back on Wednesday we notice an irregularity with holly, our 10 month olds puppies eye.
Initial inspection was inclusive so she was immediately
Taken to Taylor Vets in brackley & they confirmed nothing in the front but proceeded to scan her head and eye throat areas detecting something on the back of the eye, decisions took place as to whether to get a referral to the eye specialist.
The practice was phoning for spaces at 4:30 Friday afternoon whilst her eye continued to swell it was unclear at this point if we could save the eye!
John was out but lucky for us came back and reviewed the scans and came out to see me.
He had seen similar issues before and was confident it was an ulcerated cyst on the back of her eye and how to operate saving time and money giving her the best chance of success.
At this point I will point out John has been treating our dogs for the best part of 20 years so I trust him whole heartedly!!
I said John I’ve trusted you with them all do what you think is right.
That night after hours she was operated on!
A late evening phone call to say all had gone well but would need to be kept in till the morning! 🤞
We picked her up this morning with a list of things to do and were told to call if anything looked serious however expect it to look worse as everything settled.
We need to go back Monday so fingers crossed she’s on the right path 🙏 it will be some time to see if she makes a full recovery but John and his team have given her the best chance.

Last night heaven got another angel.
We sadly lost Rita (FTAW Woodabudge Melody of Craigscourt) after a short battle with cancer, aged 9.
Run free Rita. Hope you find Willow, Toffee & Toby, you’ll remember them! 🐾

📢 EVENT NEWS.
The countdown is on for a great weekend celebrating our town, see below for a snippet of what's going on.

Join Bicester Town Council and Bicester Garrison as they will be celebrating/honoring the Annual Flag Raising Day on Friday 28th June for the Armed Forces.
The ceremony will commence at 2:30pm – 3:15pm and will take place in Garth Park.
Continuing the celebration, a day filled with activities for all the family, military demonstrations, performances from The military brass band, Craigcourts Gun dogs, Bure Park Drumba, Bicester Military, and keeping the euros spirit table football competitions and much much more - Saturday 29th June at Pingle Field, Bicester - 11 am - 4 pm.
** The RAF Lancaster flypast will no longer be taking place due to a tragic accident on May 25th involving the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, as a town we send our condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the pilot involved.

As many of you that have been on our training sessions we have been using two RRT 6 shot launchers with the a variety of dummies but we’ve not tried these!!!
So never mind the expense in the quest to enhance our water workshops we’ve decided to give the RRT duck dummies with wings and weighted heads all supplied by Fullpip Ltd a go as usual excellent service.
Initially I ordered the black and white strobe version so I could see them In the water but Howard Rudkin challenged me to try the the brown clone!
No explanation but wanted an honest feedback so he popped one in the box I’m sure he has the answers already but I look forward to trying them both on our next water session and feed back on them.

If you fancy a session with your dogs on the 3/4 acres pond with the RRT launchers inc duck calls then get in touch 1:2:1 and groups welcome or look out for one off our workshops. 🦆

Today heaven has another Angel & we lost not only a Client, but a friend, a trooper & fellow Gundog handler. 😞
Few of you may have met Clare on Retriever workshops & experienced her zest for life, despite Cancer making her extremely weak & tired.
Clare was & still is, the bravest person I’ve EVER met.
She still came to lessons, unable to breathe through her whistle to recall or re-direct her dog, she came to workshops laden with an oxygen tank, just so she could do something with Yogi, her exuberant chocolate Labrador.
Having my own Gundog business, I was prepared for the unexpected, but I never expected this. 😔
At the moment I have no words, but I will aim to do something in memory of Clare.
