This year marks one hundred years since Puccini’s death. His operas have been the soundtrack of Scriptum for the past twenty years and they have inspired us to present a unique range of beautiful new products.

With our UK ink supplier we have created four new shades to match the emotions of Puccini’s operas. In our Italian workshop we have produced a range of leather notebooks and bookmarks featuring his greatest arias. With Tuscan artisans we have created Puccini bookends, busts and statuettes. There are several other products to discover, with more to come.

Our Scriptum branded products are not available anywhere else.

We have spent the last few days in Florence working with our suppliers here. There are several exciting new products arriving in the next few weeks, and we cannot wait to show them to you.

We visited some of our favourite places in Florence, starting with the Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. This is the original premises of Santa Maria Novella, who supply Scriptum with a plethora of beautiful scented products.

From the middle ages, the Dominican friars of Santa Maria Novella cultivated medicinal plants. They sold rose water as a disinfectant, which was much valued during periods of epidemics.

The present perfumery building dates from 1612 and is acknowledged to be the oldest pharmacy in Europe. It is a beautiful building in its own right, as well as being filled with gorgeous products to sample and buy. There is also a small museum where some old packaging for the “Pasticche Antisteriche” mints caught our eye.

We strolled along the Arno after heavy rains, marvelling at the sight of the river swollen with flood water, with enormous logs and other debris. But we are lucky enough to be leaving Florence in glorious sunshine as we make our way to Piacenza for the next stage of our trip. .
