Try not to share your festive food with your pets this year. What may be delicious to us, can be harmful - there are hidden dangers. Raisins, grapes and sultanas can be toxic to your pets - so keep those mince pies out of reach. Even those greasy sausages can cause digestive upsets, especially when cooked in fat. And we all know that chocolate is toxic to our pets, so keep those yule logs away from inquisitive hungry mouths.
Enjoy your festive food, but keep your pets to their normal routine to avoid any upsets and dramas that could put an end to your festive fun.

We would like to thank all our amazing Hilltop Clients for entrusting us to take care of your beautiful pets over 2024.

🎃 Halloween is right around the corner! As you get ready for spooky celebrations, don’t forget that fireworks can be scary for our pets. 🐾💥

Have a read of our tips for keeping your furry friends safe and calm this season:

1. Create a safe, quiet space indoors
2. Keep pets inside during peak firework times
3. Use calming aids if needed, like soothing music or anxiety wraps
4. Speak to us if you think your pet may need some medication to help relax
5. Keep your Halloween sweets and treats somewhere safe away from your pets

Let’s make it a fun (and safe!) Halloween for everyone! 🎃🐶🐱

IT’S PUPPY PARTY TIME🥳

Did you know that here at Hilltop vets, we have a friendly, qualified dog behaviourist called Reneé. Once a month she hosts a party for puppies between 8-16 weeks old, once they’ve had their first vaccine. We offer a calm, quiet space for pups to socialise whilst under supervision. There are usually no more than 6 puppies at each party, so no one gets too overwhelmed. The party’s are also free of charge so come and join the fun!🐶

The next puppy party is on Wednesday 4th September at 18:45, here at the practice.

To secure your place, either call the practice on 01865 736060 or WhatsApp us on 07519474782.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask🐾

Its Tick time of year!
Ticks are small, spider-like parasites that suck blood! They have eight legs and an egg-shaped body that fills with the blood they suck.
They hang out in woods and grassland throughout the year, so these are the areas where they can get onto you and your pet. Although they can’t jump, they still manage to get onto people and cling to dogs coats by climbing, dropping, or through direct contact. Its important to look out for ticks on your pet after walks during the warmer months.
If your dog has been bitten, you’ll usually see the tick on their skin as a lump - regular grooming can be a good way of checking for ticks, and is also a nice way to bond with your dog.
You won’t be able to stop your dogs picking up parasites, but regular checks of your dog after every walk and speaking to your vet about parasite control can help.
