We had an ...interesting ...sniffari this morning π€
All 3 pups stayed on leads today while Maggie was at the groomers. We were approached multiple times by off-lead dogs with varying levels of 'recall'.
Normally it doesn't overly bother me as none of mine are aggressive but it does make it a nightmare with tangled leads, being pulled around and makes it hard for me to teach my lot NOT to say hello to every single dog and person.
I was basically asked by one of said people, why all my dogs are on leads when they just want to play?!
Yes my dogs are friendly, yes they want to play but that doesn't mean they're entitled to all the time. I didn't realise there was something wrong with dogs staying on the lead π€
What would happen if I let them off and couldn't call them back?
What would happen if I let them all off and they ran up to an on-lead dog and got attacked?
What would happen if something spooked one of them and they ran off/got lost?
What would happen if they ran off to the road?
There are several reasons why I didn't let them off today. In a safer, more secure environment I would more likely let them off to play.
I wouldn't want to risk any of those things happening to my own dogs and I definitely wouldn't risk anything happening to a dog I've been trusted to look after. I'd much rather be safe than sorry π€·πΌββοΈ
Has this just rubbed me up the wrong way because I'm tired and coming down with another cold? π
