We had to make this post on our Groomed by G page very recently but didn’t think to share on here as this page is obviously outdated, unfortunately even after doing this we are still experiencing multiple no shows and last minute cancellations every week
The impact on a small business this has is HUGE and as much as we know the large majority of our customers understand this there is a minority who don’t
We’d like to make it clear that we do not nor have we ever profited from people not showing up to appointments and where reasonable we can understand and make exceptions however like every business both large and small we have overheads and staff wages to pay for, when you don’t attend your appointment these costs still have to be paid and when we don’t have a dog in the shop we aren’t making any money let alone any profit and nor are we able to offer the appointment to anyone else when it’s last minute
Our text reminders that we also have to pay for every month ask that you give 48 hours notice if you need to cancel, of course this isn’t always doable and in those cases we are always happy to try to understand why when there is an explanation provided
Without going on or sounding like a broken record I just wanted to give an explanation myself as to why we are now having to be more strict about this matter

As a small local business who is gratefully very busy we spend a lot of time scheduling appointments and trying to fit everyone in, unfortunately recently we have had multiple no shows and as you can imagine this greatly affects the business. I wanted to give an insight into this and explain how going forward we will making some changes to try to avoid this
This week alone we have had 6 no show appointments resulting in a loss of roughly £250, it doesn’t take a mathematician to work out what this is over a month and over a year and for a small local business this impact is huge. It also means we aren’t able to offer appointments to customers who regularly show up.
We are reasonable and appreciate things happen and things come up so a simple phone call or message to let us know even after the appointment goes a long way. Not showing up with no explanation at all is unacceptable.
Going forward we will be taking deposits for appointments, this will involve in you receiving a link in a text message that will take you to a page in which you can do this with a bank card and this amount will be deducted off the overall service when you are in the shop. It is really simple and only takes 30 seconds. If we do receive the deposit within 24 hours of the appointment it is no longer secured.
If you are unable to attend your appointment and let us know we will be happy to carry this deposit over to your next appointment.
It is none refundable if you do not show up. Any no shows without explanation will be required to pay in full upfront for any future appointments.
We have tried to avoid having to do this but we feel it is necessary to protect the business.
We want to thank all of loyal customers who regularly attend their appointments, we are truly grateful and apologise that we are having to do this due a small minority.
