Cara has been a fantastic first (and only) time mum. She had 9 puppies in her litter!
🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
A few have already gone off to their new homes, so she was in for her check-up and her pups 2nd vaccinations.
🐾
Since Shuna is staying, her owners chose to cover her with our Platinum Package, which includes:
A full health check,
Vaccination against Distemper, contagious hepatitis caused by adenovirus, Parvo virus, Leptospirosis, and Kennel Cough,
A dose of panacur wormer at first vaccination,
An advocate spot-on against fleas and worms at second vaccination,
A personalised Red Dingo tag,
A 2kg bag of puppy food,
Free nail clipping at all future vaccinations,
A free pre-neutering examination,
Training and behaviour advice,
And as always, access to our out of hours emergency service in your usual practice.

*microchips are no longer included in puppy packages as your pup should be chipped while still with the breeder and initially registered to them*

We are having some supply issues with Nobivac Respira (the injectable version of kennel cough protection). Any remaining Respira will be reserved for owners who are immunocompromised until it is back in stock.

We still have Nobivac KC which is the standard intranasal vaccination. Please bear in mind for your dogs upcoming vaccination appointments.

Time to celebrate one of our own!

We would like to invite you all to join us in congratulating Andrew McHale on becoming our new Head Veterinary Nurse at our Paisley practice.

Andrew joined Abbey in 2002 and has worked his way up in his career, studying hard to become a registered veterinary nurse in 2011. He has an interest in anaesthesia and medical nursing of inpatients. You'll have seen his face around our Paisley branch often and have likely listened to his experienced advice during your visits.

He has gone the extra mile in his patient care often, working around what works best for both patient and client to provide excellent care.

Well done Andrew! We wish you all the best in your new position πŸŽ‰

With the festive season fast approaching, please remember to order any calming treatments in advance to allow time for orders to arrive.

Due to recent RCVS prescribing regulations, prescription medications to calm your pet will require a health check prior to prescribing.

Please contact the surgery to arrange your appointment or order your pets medication.

It is with sadness that we announce the departure of Karen Hutchison and Alison Greer from the practice.
Karen has been our β€˜book keeper’ since 11th March 1999 and has been responsible for paying our bills, collating staff salaries and generally keeping us out of trouble! We are grateful to her for all her hard work!
Alison joined us on 13th September 1999 as a trainee nurse and diligently worked her way to becoming Head Veterinary Nurse at our Paisley practice. Not only has she been responsible for setting and maintaining standards of hygiene, care, compassion and professionalism, she also developed our website and manages our page. She made the practice tick and we are very sorry to see her go.
We wish them both well for the future and thank them for their combined 48 years of loyalty and service.

It is with great regret that Beverley will be leaving us in January after 31 years at Abbey Vet Group.

Beverley has written the following message. πŸ’•

I joined Abbey Vet Group back in 1992, the day after my final BVMS exams results and eagerly began my veterinary career as a mixed Veterinary Surgeon guided by Jimmy Love, John Galloway and Neil McIntosh, eventually migrating to the small animal side and later becoming a partner.
I am incredibly thankful to them for for the guidance, mentoring, opportunities and friendship they have provided me over the years.
Therefore, it is with mixed feelings but many happy memories that I announce my departure from Abbey Vet Group. My last day will be Monday the 8th of January, 2024.

It has been my privilege and honour to provide care to your treasured companions. I truly feel fortunate to have been a part of this practice for over 31 years, and it has been an absolute pleasure to have formed so many wonderful friendships! I am grateful for your support and for entrusting me with your pet’s well-being.

If you have any questions or concerns that require attention prior to my farewell, please feel free to reach out to me by contacting the Surgery.

Many good wishes are extended to each of you and to your beloved family pets in the years to come. I will miss you all!

Thank you very much Aileen for our delicious cakes and our beautiful card πŸ’•πŸ’•

It is with great regret that we announce that Neil McIntosh BVM&S MRCVS will be leaving the Abbey Vet Group after thirty-seven and a half years. Neil started in 1986, following two cold years practising near Aberdeen, and became a Partner in 1990, when one of his first priorities was to remove the frosted glass shutters at the front desks that separated owners and receptionists, heralding an era where clients and vets formed long lasting, mutually beneficial relationships that often became friendships. He is incredibly proud to have been known as β€˜Uncle Neil’ to so many generations and would like to thank all his clients for their loyalty, trust, perseverance and good humour. He is also extremely grateful to his family for their patience, understanding and tolerance during many nights, weekends and Christmas days on call, never mind the interrupted holidays! Neil is hugely appreciative of the expertise, help, support, camaraderie and kindness he has received from many members of staff over nearly four decades and says he feels blessed to have had business partners who possessed very different attributes but who all had ability of the highest quality. He wishes them all, and you, and your animals, the very, very best for the future.

πŸ’•We received this lovely thank you message this morning from Daisy’s owner Carole. We are all delighted that Daisy is looking so well and is loving life again. Thank you for taking the time to send us this lovely video of DaisyπŸ’•

Two years ago Daisy became gravely ill, she was only 3 years old. Her blood count was so low we did not think she would survive the night. This became a long hard fight and it turned out she had IMHA. I cannot thank Head Nurse Alison Greer, vet Frances McLauchlan, vet Fiona at the Vet Specialist Centre in Livingston enough, and not forgetting the girls on reception πŸ’•.
The care and dedication Daisy received was fantastic and also counselling for me! After years of treatment, here she is today enjoying life. I can never thank all of them enough x πŸ’•

To our clients,

Our team are going to require your help while we implement some new well-being sessions for our staff.

We need to take a break every Wednesday afternoon from 3.30pm - 5.00pm. This time will allow for scheduled down time/team building activities.

As always, we will continue to provide emergency cover. We ask that during this time, any non emergency phone calls or trips to the practice are avoided.

Many thanks for your understanding,

Your Abbey team x

07/09/2023

On 1st September 2023, our regulator, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, made changes to the way we provide your veterinary care and prescribe products for your pet.

Vets can only legally prescribe prescription medicines, including antibiotics and medicines that treat parasites (like fleas and worms) if they have physically examined your pet.

These changes are beyond our control and have been put in place to fight drug resistance and to protect the environment.

Please bear with us while we put new systems in place to help minimise the effect these changes will have on you.

Keeping a solitary rabbit confined in a small hutch at the end of the garden falls short of providing compassionate, considerate, and optimal care for their well-being.

That’s why we fully support the Rabbit and Welfare Fund campaign!
