Morning guys and girls,

Apologies for any unanswered emails and messages over the last week, we’ve been away to Dorset for a few days fossil hunting.

I’ve come home to an insane amount of orders, dozens of unanswered emails and 1000’s of animals to feed.

Due to the exceptional high volume of orders this week I will be packing and shipping all the way up to Thursday and attempting to catch up with all the messages. Apologies for any inconveniences but god damn I needed that weekend away!

Apologies for my lack of presence on social media recently, I’ve been working very hard on some things behind the scenes.

Today I got the keys to our new unit and to say that I am super pleased would be the understatement of the century!

It’s going to take a lot of work to get this how I want it but I have big plans for this unit, eventually culminating in a physical shop! Watch this space!

I’m finally back from the spring show and what a week it was! I’ve got lots of sorting out and animals to feed today and am aiming to get the website restocked and open for tommorow evening.

I was a little apprehensive about bringing bugs along to a plant show but the response we received absolutely blew me away. It was so nice to be able to show people how big a function invertebrates play in the ecosystem, and how we can apply this in terrariums.

The vibe in the houseplant festival was fantastic, so many like minded people under one roof, how could you not make some new friends!

Big shout outs to everyone new and old we had the pleasure of meeting, but the biggest shout out has to go to my main man Charlie over without whom I wouldn’t be able to do these shows. Thanks for taking the time off of work to come along and help me run the table drink and beers in the evening.

This is probably some of the best footage I’ve ever caught in the bug room! This video is close up footage of our black fire millipedes (centrobolus fulgidus) mating. Notice how the males front legs are different from the females? That’s because millipedes sexual organs are at the front, those front legs are specially designed to pass his sperm over to the female and If you look closely you can actually see the sperm being passed over towards the end of the video! Can you believe all this is happening whilst they are in my hand! These guys have been at it like crazy over the last few months and the soil in their enclosure is full of babies right now. I absolutely love the big Mediterranean porcellio genus. Just check out the sheer variety of shape and colour difference between just a few separate species. I find these as joy to keep and are far more active and showy than most other species. Most also tend to grow pretty big and the genus itself contains many of the largest terrestrial isopods species know. Most of these guys prefer a drier, well ventilated environment making them suitable for larger arid terrariums, although a small damp area is still required.

ASMR warning there’s a lot of legs moving around in this video and it sounds like rain! Here’s a little video of some Podzilla’s, porcellio hoffmanseggi! I was separating the whites (or ‘yetis’ as we like to call them) off In to a new colony and thought I would share a little footage of both normal and white side by side. Welocme to Micro Exotics, we are a small family run business based in sunny Cornwall, UK. We aim to provide everything for the needs of amateur to advanced terrarium hobbyists . We breed our own livestock and aim to propagate most of our own plants within a few years.

we have many years experience in the exotics pet trade and hope to use our knowledge and experience to help grow the terrarium hobby within the UK.
