Wednesday marks the end of an era. I said goodbye to my practice after 15 incredible years.
I am absolutely heartbroken to be leaving behind my amazing team, my wonderful patients, and the incredible owners I’ve had the privilege of working with, as so many of them have become great friends over the years. Being a vet has never just been a job to me—it’s my passion, my purpose, and such a huge part of my life. I have loved every minute at Zetland, through the highs and the lows, giving my all—blood (literally), sweat (a lot of), and tears (SO many tears) —for the animals in my care.
I’ve had the privilege of working alongside so many incredibly talented and knowledgeable people over the years, and I’ve learned so much from them. A lot of them have become some of my best friends in the world. It’s also devastating to think that I won’t be responsible for keeping all my favourite pets fit and well anymore—that part truly breaks my heart 💔
But as difficult as yesterday and the last three months have been, having to say so many goodbyes, it is time for me to close this chapter and start a new one at a practice up in Gloucester.
A special thank you to my amazing team at Patchway—Joanne Arnold, Emily Barlot, Hannah Lloyd, and Hannah Owen for giving me the most thoughtful and emotional send-off. My beautiful book, filled with heartfelt comments, photos, and paw prints, means the world to me. I can’t believe you managed to do that without me noticing! I haven’t cried so much since I’ve lost a loved one 🥲. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all so much. Please pass on my thanks to everyone for my gifts and kind words, as I won’t be able to thank them myself. I am utterly overwhelmed.
Jo, a special thank you to you for my photo album, which must have taken you hours and hours, I’ll treasure it- the yummy cheesecake, driving me home so I could cry and helping me unload the mountain of gifts the other end 🥰
I was 4 when I decided I wanted to be a vet. Inspired by the James Herriot way of vetting and my love of horses, I thought I would be a country vet. Who would have thought I’d have found my dream job on a roundabout in Patchway. But I bloody love that place and so many of the people in it. I’ve felt part of the local community for so many years, I’ll definitely miss it 🐾 ❤️😭🥲
