Who is feeling the differences in energy at the moment, I know I am and it’s been one heck of a whirlwind over the past couple of months, well year really.

I have taken a little break from readings, however spirit had a great time recently and made me work in public and give someone a message last week.
Not something that is the norm but nothing like being thrown out your comfort zone.
Clearly subtle signs were not in the cards that day,

So after a little break I am being called to open my books back up for the remaining few weeks of 2024. They can be used for animal communication sessions, spiritual readings or card forecast sittings.

Can’t believe we are on the final run up to Christmas but none the less, it’s the perfect time to get going on building or maybe improving some of those crucial lifeskills before the real holiday spirit kicks in.

Using game based, positive reinforcement to build crucial life skills rather then single stand alone behaviour cues.

What you can expect when coming along to one of my lifeskills classes:

🐶 You will be working with a fully qualified behaviourist (BSc) specialising in puppy and adolescent development

🍁🐶 November shift 🍁🐶

How are we in the 11th month of the year?!
And what a strange year it’s been to say the least.
It’s certainly been a roller coaster especially with all the energy shifts to boot too.

So this post is a bit of a glimpse into things shifting going forward and it’s taken me a lot of deliberation to get to this point as I am being called to transition into other arenas fully, but as it stands I still don’t have all the answers either yet 🥴 however change is certainly needed.

Firstly those already working with me, this shift will not effect you in any which way, shape or form but moving forward I will no longer be taking reactivity cases on unless you are ready to commit and get into the depths of understanding your canine and be willing to go down the journey that your dog is taking you on.

My focus will be staying in all things puppy and adolescence, To set up guardians in a proactive way to set their canines up for success from the beginning.
With that, the content of course will be shifting into these realms moving forward, still with the occasional touch of energetics and behind the scenes chaos.

🎃🐶 Halloween scent workshop 🐶🎃

This is a stand alone workshop that I am running as a special Halloween event that will allow you to have a taster of scentwork with your dog.

Scent work is a fab way of using your dogs natural abilities to engage that brain of theirs which is one of the many secrets to having a chilled out pooch.

This is a fun themed evening which will leave you with a new skill in hand to explore further with your dog if you wish to whilst also a fabulous way of building some confidence if this is a struggle zone for your dog.

We will go through an introduction to a scent before having a go on some simple searches for the remainder of the evening.

💙💕 Eclipse & Hala 💕💙

I firmly believe that dogs come along and into our lives for a reason and this pair are no different.
I have had the pups in my litters across the years that have that old soul, been here before and know what it’s all about. Likewise those souls that tend to stick that bit longer til their new guardians come along.
It’s fascinating watching puppies choose their new families and the amount of families I have had come in with their heart set on a particular pup from a photo or video and then choose and bond with another is amazing to see.

Our dogs always know who they are meant for and I know the ones that are destined to walk their paths with me just as clear as I know others are just here for a while until their people come along and this is one such pair.

And yes a pair.

You see right from the beginning Eclipse and Hala have been 2 peas in a pod, where one was, the other went and this was from before their eyes were opened.
They are very much Ying and Yang though, Hala is the sassy little madam who can be a whirlwind at times but is super eager to please in everything she does. She is very outgoing and if there is trouble, this little lady is involved!
And then there is Eclipse, a true gentleman, with such a calming energy about him who feeds off his sister for confidence but has a natural protection of his own that he brings to the balance.

And to say I have been torn about these 2 is an understatement, because we all know the faff around having 2 pups from the same litter or same ages. Now personally for me, I find 2 puppies together easier but it’s also very easy to get wrong as you have to treat them as individuals to make sure they have a connection with you as their guardians and not just live for one another, and it can go wrong however it can also go very right when done correctly.

So whilst I tore myself up over it I decided let’s check in energetically and see what’s what (a shout out to the lovely Janet Ardley for this one) & these 2 are very much destined to be here as a pair and want to stay together.
And rather then just being incredibly bonded these to have a conjoined soul. A new one to me but let’s face it, I get all the special cases cross my path so not very much surprises me at this stage.

So of course they are still waiting for their new guardians to come along and whilst they are here in my care they are being set up as individuals to give them the best start moving forward.

Are they to stay with me? No they are not meant for me long term but their special people are out there somewhere. Will I see them out? No i won’t, just as the same applies for all the broken, and special individuals that walk with me currently.

So this is by no means a sales post as it’s not allowed on social media (but both are looking as is their brother), it is sharing a glimpse into 2 very special puppies with a bond like no other that keep me on my toes behind the scenes.

🍁🐶 Multi dog households 🐶🍁

It’s no secret I have a multi dog household and run quite a large group of dogs, mostly spaniels and yes they live in the house.

And the amount of times I get your house must be mad, and oh they must all play with each other to keep themselves occupied.

In reality the only times my dogs are excited in the home is when we get a visitor and unless I know you, and your as mad as me, you will never meet all my dogs in one go.

Why?

Because ultimately you don’t need to and it’s not always in their best interest for such an interaction. I have a couple of individuals that wouldn’t thank me for meeting strangers and their circles are kept very small.
I also have to take into account if your energy is going to knock my dogs off as it takes a certain energy to keep levels even keeled.

However when you have a multi dog household, you don’t want your dogs living on the ceiling, as that’s when you have trouble and the last thing I want is fights.

So when it’s just me and them, this is the reality. This collage of pictures sums up my multi dog household.

The only ones that are allowed little play times are my puppies, and I supervise such times closely to make sure things don’t get OTT.

Management is vital yes and each multi dog household will have their own way of doing things.
There is no right or wrong and many will say mine could be more ‘controlled’ but the most important thing I can do is look after my energy levels to support them and step in when I need to.

But calmness is key and everything comes back to a dog that has been taught an off switch.

So when us professionals say teach your dog to do nothing, no we haven’t lost it, it is the best thing you can teach and should never be overlooked…especially those with spaniels.
That’s the secret to harmony 😊

🐾⭐️ Training glitch 🐾⭐️

I always laugh when people think that us dog professionals have the perfect dogs…we really don’t 🥴🥴

Let me paint you a picture of how my chilled morning mooch turned into a training walk for an over confident 16-week old puppy!

Yes you read that age right.

Now I walk my dogs in groups, always have even when I am training. I take my pups out with Nana dogs who set the boundary and the distance that is acceptable.
This morning was no different but the 3 remaining sprocker puppies ignored me, ignored the nana’s and went on an adventure where they were dots in the distance 🤦‍♀️ they then refused to come back, one puppy in particular…Eclipse…the super sweet boy has decided to push the boundaries!

Don’t worry we were in an enclosed walk so they couldn’t get themselves lost as such.

So what did I do after realising these cheeky sprocker pups turned their ears off?

I decided to turn my morning mooch into a training session.

🐾 I went super quiet and stood still, the fact they decided to do this in a woodland allowed me to also play hide and seek.

🐾 I didn’t over use their names, or whistle. I remained calm and waited them out.
By this point all my adults had returned and were waiting for their release cue so the pups were on their own.

🐾 As they came back they got huge fuss and huge reward. Tide and Hala then remained fairly close for the rest of the walk, always keeping me in earshot.

But Eclipse continued to push. Refusing to come in.

🐾 I changed direction suddenly again remaining quiet. This continued until his distance went from 20/30m to 2m.

🐾 and yes I then hid behind a tree which brought him right back into my side for a reward.

What went wrong?

Nothing as such, this boy alongside his sister are 2 pups that share a unique bond and are still waiting for their people to come along. When these people come along, he will flourish as he is going to be a 1-2 person dog which means I need to work extra hard in the meantime to fill that void.

Moving forward he will get a couple of individual walks to make him realise that I am the safety net and where he needs to stick.
He will also be paired off with my main Nana Miss Zsa who is also a guide and sets a really strict boundary which will result in a nip if he pushes too much so he can ping pong between us both.

Why have I shared this?

Sometimes we have to flex and shift within the moment to get to where we want and remember that it is all a journey.

What also works for one dog will also not work for another, so being able to problem solve for the dog in front of you is paramount.

And also to realise we all have days where our training goes t*ts up!

Take it for what it is and reset!

🍁🐶 Autumn dog training classes 🐶🍁

Well where is time going?!

Classes are in full swing now and we have been working on building those life-skills in both Puppies and juniors.

Now I don’t teach standalone behaviours part from to build a bank of cues to use for building impulse control so the way classes work is we set a foundation in the chosen lifeskill and then build on this for the duration of the course.

Puppies have been learning new behaviours through luring and shaping as well as been introduced to the biggest lifeskill of them all-Boundary training to help create lovely chilled dogs as well as working on the baby levels of arousal to help puppies realise that when they do get a bit too excited that they still have a brain in their head.

Juniors also have been building in a few more behaviour cues to help work on their impulse control and have also been introduced to some focus work to help with working around distraction and learning how to settle on their boundaries.

All very busy and everyone is doing so well. I love watching how all the pieces of the puzzle start to sync together as we go through a course.

We have also discussed how to settle young dogs at home, common puppy struggles, all things hormone related and the difference values in food to help reinforce behaviours and alternative options to reward too.

Well with October fast approaching (and my favourite month with being a witch and all) it’s time to get myself prepped for something brand new and a little bit of holiday fun.

This Halloween I am offering a scent workshop, ideal for the beginners who are wanting to have a taster at building a new skill whilst also working on your dogs confidence and doing something a little bit different this Halloween.

This will be a jam-packed workshop with introducing dogs to a scent, looking at what we are looking for in an indication and then having a go through 3 (possibly a fourth) spooky searches. I mean let’s keep it in the holiday after all.

⭐️💖 Tallulah ⭐️💖

What a week it’s been and this time I am going to hand you over into the paws of Tallulah to tell you what we have been up to 🥴

Hello everyone,

So for those that don’t know, I am Berezi’s sister and an utter fruit look…well normal cocker spaniel with no built in self-preservation 🥴

Last Sunday I decided to keep my human on her toes by trying to fly (we can do that right?!) by taking a flying leap over some pallets we have up as a temporary garden fence, when I went out for my morning p*e.

Well that was my idea however I mis-judged the height and got a back leg caught in the fence and brought it all down on top of me.

Lots of screaming, and my human came to my rescue half dressed.
She got me un-mangled, put everyone away so we could see the state of my floppy mess of a leg…

Anyway shattered femur later, a considerable vet bill for my human (she says Christmas is cancelled this year, I have no idea what she is on about as I have a list for Santa paws!) and I now have 3 legs.

But I am bright as a button, heavily medicated and adjusting to my new life, although the human says I’m not meant to scale the sofa or zoomies when I am healing. Besides realising I can’t take tight corners, I am no slower on 3 legs-well until I get tired.

So as our vet pot is still on empty from one of the others earlier in the summer I have set the human the task of coming up with some autumn specials.
I have got my human to list them in the comments to keep everything near and tidy.
All of which will be added to my vet fund 💖

🐶🐾 Training classes 🐶🐾

Well as my weekend all blurred into one, I didn’t get to update you all with last weeks antics.
That and Tallulah keeping me on my toes with Berezi finding his attitude 🥴🥴

Last Thursday, my classes got underway for the second block in the area.

Now unlike many I always start with a theory session and this happens for both puppy and juniors.
It allows us to go through some basic training theory as well as a chunky bit of theory that I think is so important for all canine guardians to know so they can adjust and understand their canines throughout their life.
That is the reset button aka calmness.

It also allows us all to put faces to names and ask any questions that help guardians understand they life stage their canines are in, and most importantly set up for success from the get go.

This week, it’s all about setting the foundations that we will then build on over the rest of the course.

⭐️🍁 A welcome of sorts 🍁⭐️

So I figured it’s been a little while since I have done a welcome post and I have had some new follows of late so time for a little introduction.

If you are new here, then welcome, my name is Lois and I the human behind the very large team of dogs.
I am a fully qualified behaviourist (BSc) specialising in all things puppy and youngster as well as still taking the odd resource guarding or aggression case. Based in Innerleithen, Scottish Borders (but I cover world wide as work online too)

I have a background in rescue and not just here but the Middle East and I have explored the realms of natural health for our canines which I simply love and am expanding out into this further but for now you will have to wait and see how this looks.

Now I am known for thinking outside the box and that’s usually why many land my way, whilst taking an ethical approach to helping you understand your canine for the individual that they are.

I don’t offer quick fixes as don’t have a magic wand to hand but I am the person for you if you want to get into the nitty gritty behaviour and learn how to guide your canine back into a space of harmony.

Yes you have read that right. I train YOU and not your dog.

I am also a game based trainer and love nothing more then training through choice- No that doesn’t mean it’s a free for all!!

So that’s one branch of who I am and what I do.

I am also a spiritual medium, animal communicator.
I strongly believe it’s all connected and for those that wish to drop into the world of energetics or feel called to explore this area with their canine then I am more then happy to build this into any work I offer.

🐶⭐️ Puppy class graduation 🐶⭐️

Well it’s been a couple of weeks since my first puppy class in the area graduated Pawesome puppies.

We finished the course with an outdoor session that allowed us to practise our proximity life skills as well as working around some distraction and lovely puppy play.

During the 6-weeks, we covered basic behaviour cues, the importance of setting up for calmness and the beginning stages of doing nothing.
We also worked on some focus activities to set puppies up successfully around real life distractions and to avoid conflict from arising due to negative interactions.
And finally we worked on the foundations of loose lead walking as well as recall.

It was a jam-packed programme, great fun and lovely to see puppies flourish.

🐶⭐️ Meet Cookie 🐶⭐️

Now this boy is an utter whirlwind and his human mums deserve a gold medal for putting up with his antics however they have been the best clients to work with from the beginning!

You see sometimes you get a dog that really does change the rules of the game and make their humans shift their expectations to what the individual dog can cope with and very occasionally these expectations will differ.

Cookie has been with his human mums from a pup. And nothing has been straight forward with this boy.
He is an ultra sensitive being (not of this world), is highly reactive, was clashing with the other dogs in the household and safe to say he knows his own mind!
He also doesn’t think he should flex into the modern pretty boxes we set out for our canines.

Now thankfully he has landed with the right humans for this undertaking as he is taking them on one heck of a spiritual journey (which they are embracing with open arms) and we have not only done the behaviour, training and wellness work but the energetic and spiritual work too and continue to do so.

Are we at the end result with Cookie. Not at all and that is part of his lesson. It’s never about the end result. It’s about the journey and all it’s twists and turns along the way.

What wins has this boy had?

⭐️ He has taught his humans how to connect with him on a deeper level and also understand the most subtle of behaviour communication cues.

⭐️ He has slowed their day to day down from hustle and bustle.

⭐️ He has found his place within their group of canines that he shares his home with and all the rescue bunnies and no longer views the puss cats as playthings.

And I want to also put an acknowledgment here for his awesome human mum who has put so much time into this boy and given him every opportunity to flourish as many would have given up. 💖💖💖

I have sat on Cookies story for a long while as his message is so clear and I also feel that it is now ready to share with others.

⭐️🐶 All things recall 🐶⭐️ As we are pulling into the better weather (everything crossed 😳😳) and that out of control dogs in the countryside is a hot topic at the moment due to the amount of sheep worrying/attacks, let’s deep dive all things recall and let’s start right at the beginning. Now this post is really aimed at all puppy owners as your starting place, however it is also a fantastic place to start if your canine has little to no interest in you when outdoors. The only difference is use a long line on an adult dog and utilise enclosed fields if you feel more comfortable for this step. Both can also be utilised for puppy parents too for piece of mind. Your bond with your canine is the most important step to ANYTHING you wish to do with your canine. Don’t rush it. Don’t avoid it or skip it. 🐶⭐️ Top Tip Tuesday ⭐️🐶 Let’s talk crate training your puppy and how to get it started. Now this has come about as I am crate training the remaining cockapoo puppies and it is a lifeskill I hear so many struggling with and it really doesn’t have to be a negative or a struggle point. Now this will be a series I will break down over the week and will add some trouble shooting that you may come up against as well as how to get those successful outcomes. The very first step for crate training is simply having the crate set up all nice and cosy looking so it becomes like a mini den for your pup/canine. Having it there, many will explore such a space on their own accord.
