Dougie enjoying his post purchase assessment and treatment. Lovely bonding time for his new owner too . A post purchase physio check can be really helpful before you get on board to iron out any issues, or highlight any potential areas of concern that can then be addressed before you start your journey with your new horse. By using an ACPAT vet physio you get someone who continually wants to provide the best care by using the best up to date evidence. We use rein back as part of our assessments as it can tell us a lot about how your horse moves, however ...... there is very little evidence to support this. This is why I decided to take a look at this for my research as part of my Masters . Yesterday we had lots of fun starting the data collection.

Physio exercises don't have to be boring. These exercises were to help Kian with his dressage riding, focusing on light contact in the rein whilst maintaining an optimum position. We added a little bounce on the gym ball to fire up his abdominals and try and stop the pelvis from tilting forwards. This along with my Equilates is going to get Kian sitting with a good balance, posture and most importantly using the right muscles.
