Grooming can be very intimidating and scary for some dogs, wheather thats in a busy grooming salon or at home. It can also be painful if you're not brushing your dog correctly or regularly enough.The stimulation of being groomed can be exhausting for them and a sensory overload for some. It's also an invation of their personal space. All these things understandably will put your dog off from being groomed.

top tips

One way to help your dogs feel less anxious is to have a routine and ‘rules’ you both stick to when grooming.

1.The first and most important rule is shown in the video below, always groom your dog in the same place.

2.This way the dog knows whats happening.

3.Always reward your dog for coming to the grooming spot

4.Be respectful of your dog if he is scared or anxious, don't over do things keep it short and easy, then try again tomorrow or the next day

5.Start this as young as possible, to benign with your dog could be on the grooming spot so you can look at his toe nails, then next time put your finger between the toes and pads then do the same with a comb or soft brush.

6.Build up the scary intimidating things slowly, this will build your dogs trust and confidence in you, being groomed and handled by other people, it will give him life skills.

7.If you do too much too soon your dog will just think the grooming spot is a scary place and will create more anxiousness and fear

8.always use grooming products that are suitable fo your pets skin type

What is Yeast malysisia

This is probably the most common skin issue is dogs especially dogs with skin folds
Sadly, this is a very common condition in dogs. Yeast dermatitis also known as yeast malassezia, occurs for many different reasons, and you must look at the condition in a very holistic manner. Here, we are focusing on the skin surface.

The skin's surface is a complex structure, and yeast, in low numbers, is part of the skin's normal flora. The skins flora is like a delicate ecosystem and is easily disturbed and unbalanced. when the natural flora is unbalanced it can spiral into a whole host of skin issues for your furry friends. In this article we are just focusing on the symptoms that occur in the skin.

Several factors can cause a healthy level of yeast on the skin to become a dermatitis infection, including humidity, excess heat altered pH levels, poor management of skin folds, food allergies and often it is a secondary problem due to underlying skin disease such as allergic disease (including canine atopic dermatitis and flea allergy dermatitis), recurrent bacterial pyoderma, and hypothyroidism. Yeast dermatitis is often a secondary disease caused by factors such as, antibiotic therapy, and prolonged corticosteroid therapy or a flea infestation, Yeast like to grow in the lipids (natural fatty oils) of the skin and easily develop into an unhealthy amount causing irritation. once the skin is unbalenced and can be difficult to regulate.

Frist of all if you suspect your dog is suffering a type of drmatitis or any infection you must speak to your vet to rule out any other possible issues or underlaying causes.

Why shampoo bars, not soap bars?
many customers refer to shampoo bars as 'soap.' This is a common mistake, as shampoo is usually in liquid form rather than a bar. We make shampoo bars rather than liquid shampoo for environmental reasons, but it's also important to note that soap bars are not suitable for cleaning hair.

The main differences between a shampoo bar and a bar of soap lie in their formulations and intended uses:

Ingredients:

Shampoo Bars: Specifically formulated for hair, and in our case, a variety of skin types. we use a variety of nourishing oils to suit different skin types and we use only one mild surfactants that help cleanse hair and skin without heavily stripping natural oils or severely cleaning skin
Soap Bar: Primarily designed for cleansing skin and often includes a variety of fats, oils, either natural or synthetic and lye. It’s not typically formulated for hair care.
pH Levels:

Shampoo Bars: Have a lower pH that’s more suitable for hair and dogs skin. Our shampoo bars PH ranges from 6.8 to 7 depending on skin type (dogs skin PH is a complicated issue which I could create another course about)
Bar Soap: Generally is more alkaline which is more suitable for human skinh but is be too harsh for hair (ours or animals) and will lead to dry and damaged hair.

our shampoo bars are designed to suit different skin types but if we made a soap for different skin types we would ultimately damage the hair making it an unsuitable product for animals

While some customers ask about liquid shampoo, we choose to produce our shampoo in bar form. Liquid shampoo can be complicated to create, and in the pet industry, they often contain undisclosed ingredients. Liquid shampoos also require more ingredients, stronger preservatives, several surfactants to balance the composition and different stabilisers to stop the product separating, foaming agents to make spread easily etc.
This can be harmful to the environment. Our shampoo bars use only the necessary ingredients, natural preservatives, and a single mild, natural surfactant. They are also easier to use on pets' faces during bath time. Additionally, we prioritize sustainable sourcing and packaging, and strive to reduce our carbon footprint for everyone!
