As some of you may have known I was expecting baby number two at Easter.

Anton decided to make his arrival two weeks early on 18th March!

At the moment we are adjusting to becoming a family of 4 and all the chaos that brings.

However I am taking bookings for future holiday cover.

Just had Harlequine Bodywork out to massage Narla and Fred.
Absolutely incredible to see how much the two relaxed and benefited from it.

RoR is delighted to support the first ever thoroughbred census in conjunction with British Racing's Horse Welfare Board and Hartpury University . As part of the Horse Welfare Board's five-year welfare strategy 'A Life Well Lived', owners of thoroughbreds in Great Britain can take part in this exciting census to support traceability between 28 June and 31 December 2023.

• MEET TORI •

Some of my clients will have already met Tori and some will meet her in the future.

Tori is my right hand woman - she sometimes helps me ride when there are multiple horses to exercise or if there is one who is nervous to hack on their own.
She is also my sickness cover should anything happen - meaning you know your horses are cared for and covered no matter the circumstances.

Tori grew up in Norfolk and started riding horses as a child having ponies and riding at any opportunity she could get.
As she got older, Tori completed her BHS horse care courses and started working at a busy yard, this gave her lots of opportunity to teach and gain experience running a yard.
That led her to take a job in Newmarket working with racehorses of all ages from backing, rehabilitation and retraining.
Through out her life Tori has been regularly competing and hunting her own and others horses, she currently has 5 of her own!
For the past 5 years she has been playing two of her horses in polocrosse, a fun and high energy sport played in a team.

Tori spends a lot of her free time researching horses - equine medical conditions, feeds as well as various other topics - if there is a question I have, Tori tends to be my first port of call.

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲?

There are over 20 species of ticks in Britain; ranging in size from 0.5mm - 3mm they can be hard to spot!

Although horses are most at risk between April and November, we have had an increase in ticks on our horses already.

Ticks can cause skin irritation, Lyme disease, anaemia and other complications.

Lyme Disease is a serious tick-bourne infection caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi that can affect any animal including humans. Clinical signs appear in less than 10% of infected horses, the most common symptoms being lameness and behavioral changes.

Although not every tick carries disease, immediate removal of an attached tick is recommended. The longer a tick is allowed to feed, the more organisms can pass into the bloodstream of the host.

The best way to help horses is to routinely check your horses by running your hand over and through their coat to locate ticks. You are best to remove little peaks by using a tick tool before they have time to feed. Making sure to get the tool under the body and by the head and removing all their legs during the process.

DO NOT use petroleum jelly, pick at or freeze/burn the tick, as this is likely to stimulate it to regurgitate saliva and stomach contents, increasing the chance of infection.

Tip of the Day:
Now you have flexion and starting on bend then you can really focus on your corners.
As you approach the corner, half halt and ask for the inside flexion. Hands quiet as your inside leg moves the horse through the corner then straighten on exit. If your rein aid is still on in the corner you will block the inside hind leg from coming through...
