Laser therapy effectively treats a wide variety of painful and inflammatory conditions including surgical use and both acute and chronic disease states. It penetrates deep into tissue targeting your pet's damaged cells, helps them to regenerate more quickly and can give instant pain relief.
If you think your pet could benefit from laser therapy treatment get in touch with one of our vets.

What is Arthritis? - In healthy joints, the slippery tissue called cartilage protects the ends of the bones in the joints. Unhealthy joints have cartilage that breaks down, causing pain and swelling. As it gets worse, bone spurs can form, causing more pain and joint damage. Fortunately, though arthritis can't be reversed there are things that can be done to relieve the symptoms including, weight loss, controlled activity, joint supplements and other treatments. Speak to one of our vets if you think your pet could benefit from treatment for arthritis.

*Sheep Abortion Vaccines Update*

Enzovax is out of stock until next year and Cevac is unlikely to be available until next year also.
There is an alternative vaccine, Inmeva which is a 2 dose vaccine to be given 3 weeks apart which we can currently get in 125 dose bottles and 25 dose bottles. However, there is a LIMITED SUPPLY. Unfortunately this means that some ewes may have to remain unvaccinated for this year and will need vaccinating next year instead.

If you have any questions please contact the practice as soon as possible.

🐰 is almost a wrap! Our last tip this week is about drinking.

Water
Don’t forget to provide fresh water at all times. Some rabbits prefer bowls to bottles and experiment with depth and size of the bowl to see what your rabbit likes best.
Remember to check your rabbit has water several times a day on very hot or very cold days- water can freeze or evaporate quicker than you might expect.

If you've missed out on their earlier posts, no worries, just scroll back to catch up!
And remember, your likes, shares, and comments help spread the word about rabbit welfare. Join in making a difference!

Happy Day Four of Rabbit Awareness Week 2024! 🐰

Today, they’re diving into how you can create a thriving environment for your fluffy friends with the right nutrition. Let’s hop right into making mealtime both delicious and exciting for your bunnies! 🏡

5 A DAY
Much like us, rabbits can benefit from eating a variety of vegetables. Leafy greens like dandelions, kale, cabbage or broccoli are great. Try to limit sugary fruits and vegetables like bell peppers and carrots to an occasional treat.
Aim for a handful of fresh food each day and try to include as much VARIETY as possible- can you get your rabbit to meet it’s 5 a day target? 🥦🥬

As it looks like summer has finally arrived we've got some tips on keeping dogs cool on hot days:

💧 Keep them hydrated
🚶Walk them at cooler times of the day, if it's hot the whole day don't take them for a walk
💧 Use cooling coats and collars
😴 Let your dog rest
💧 Use a paddling pool
🍡 Make some frozen treats, (like bananas, carrots etc) put ice cubes in their drinking water
💧 Use wet, cool towels
❄️ Provide cooling mats and ice packs
⛱Keep them in the shade

Remember heatstroke can be fatal for dogs, if you see any of these signs contact a vet immediately.

▪️ Excessive panting
▪️ Lethargy
▪️ Collapse
▪️ Vomiting or diarrhoea
▪️ Purple gums and redness of the skin

We hope everyone's enjoying Rabbit Awareness Week 2024 just as much as we are! 🐰

Today we're talking about Nuggets or Pellets?
Alongside a hay based diet, you can feed your rabbit a small amount of high quality nugget or pellet designed specifically for rabbits. These can help ensure your rabbit is getting everything it needs from it’s diet but are not essential to having a healthy rabbit (unlike lots of HAY or GRASS)
How much? Only feed about an eggcup full of these per day (10-15g). Why not scatter these about or put them in a treat ball to make mealtime more interesting?
Avoid museli mixes as rabbits will pick out the tasty bits they like and leave behind the less tasty items meaning they miss out on important vitamins and minerals.

Welcome to Day Two of Rabbit Awareness Week 2024 - Healthy Diet, Happy Bunnies!

Today they're hopping right into how what your bunny eats affects their health🐇.

Hay and Grass
The most important part of your rabbit’s diet is HAY or GRASS, and lots of it. Rabbits should have access to as much hay or grass as they want to eat- most will get through a pile that is the same size as them in a single day.
Hay and grass are really important for keeping your rabbits teeth worn to a healthy level, keeping their guts moving and providing a great source of energy for running around and staying warm.
Choosing the right sort of hay is important- Look for Timothy, Meadow, Orchard or Oat hay and avoid alfalfa hay except in small quantities as an occasional treat.
